Maybe President Obama isn't a socialist... maybe he doesn't believe that the government should be solely responsible for the well-being on it's people. Maybe, just maybe he doesn't believe that capitalism cannot work without government interference... It seems to upset Obama supporters to call him a socialist, as though it is a bad thing.
But without calling him a Socialist or to view him in a socialist light- what else do we have? What else can we call his beliefs? Sure, Obama denies it- because it would be wrong to say it out loud. Those that believe in him deny it, because it would be wrong... right?
Whatever. I wish he'd just come on out and say it. Why be ashamed of his beliefs? Looking back at his voting history, his platform and his political beliefs- they all scream of socialism, but Americans see this as a bad word. It works in many countries around the world, they don't think it is such a bad thing. Maybe, if he just stood up and said what he believed in and why... even packaged it up in one of his marvelous speeches, those that already believe in him would give in and agree!
I'd have a lot more respect for him if he'd just stood tall and was proud of his ideals. Bah, but who cares what I think... right? lol
I care though and since this is my post- I am going to continue with my thoughts, feel free to leave as you will. Stay if you would like :0)
America has the greatest health care system in the world. We have the highest population of leading physicians and researchers. millions of our citizens are covered by insurance. Yup, millions. That's a pretty big number. And, sadly- that doesn't include everyone... but you know- anyone can go to the hospital and be taken care of by those skilled and wonderful doctors. Sure, you'll have to pay for it... but so do those with insurance. They pay their premiums- their deductibles and their co-pays. Sorry if you don't think that is enough- you can get your own insurance and pay those as well... it might seem like a lot of money to fork over, but it would really seem worth it if/when something came up.
Overall, our schools aren't that bad. Anyone can go to school and work hard. Sure you'll have good teachers and bad teachers- but you cannot rely on them alone. We as parents need to take on the responsibility of raising and educating our children and preparing them for their futures. Which brings up an important point- not all kids are going to be college worthy. Sorry- we are not all the same. Which isn't a bad thing- you can still go far, you just might have to work differently than others.
Anyone can go to college. Yup- anyone. Care to argue? It might be hard- and you may walk off that stage owing lots of money... but that is the norm. A degree is something that sets you apart from others in a skill set. It isn't a given. It should be something you earn and pay for- you'll respect it more. I know it's hard- I've paid for mine and am currently paying for a higher degree... but it is something that I've worked hard for and I am proud of my accomplishments... to just give that away, would be a shame.
Self respect and dignity are some of the most valuable ideas that we, as a society, seem to lack. We envy others and fail to realize that it is our own due diligence that makes us successful. We want short cuts and handouts- none of which are deserved. You deserve nothing for being here... you earn what you get by your own actions. To demand equality when you are not willing to work an equal share... no dignity there.
We have been taught that the "rich" are bad and selfish people... To have is a shameful thing. I will not allow my children to be ashamed for what they have- nor will I allow my children to think that they deserve anything. They will work for what they want- just as I have and my husband does every day. We have sacrificed to get what we want and will continue to do so.
I believe that there are those out there that stumble upon hard times- I believe that we should always be willing to extend a hand in aid and love. I have been there and I have received that aid... There is nothing shameful about trying and failing. It isn't the same as never trying- our country was founded on people that were willing to risk it all, even thought they could lose everything. They took that risk... and we are better for it today.
I wish President Obama would just stand up and say what he believes- not what sounds the safest. I don't want him to tell me that he's against earmarks, all the while knowing he's going to sign them anyway. He shouldn't tell us that his plan is to help the economy and do nothing to solve the root of the problem... just tell us that he wants to focus on his principle ideals- that they come first. Who knows, it might work itself out and he'll have the best of both worlds.
He isn't the one that will suffer for it- it'll be on us, the people responsible for picking up his tab.
God Bless, President Obama. I urge you to be true to yourself- it would make this all a lot easier...

In a perfect world we could pick and chose what programs we want to fund and how to control our government. For now all we can do is vote for the people we feel would make the best decisions, and let majority decide. Majority has gone democrat, so we'll see how that works out. IF they fail... then maybe more 'change' is coming. I hope they don't fail. I hope our country comes out of these 4 (8?) years stronger and healthier than before.
