This wasn't written by me, but I have permission from Lynda to post this here. Enjoy!
Let's talk eggs. The ones you buy in the grocery store, the ones you eat at
fast food and restaurants AND the ones that go into just about everything
else out there.
All the numbers come from studies done by the CDC, FDA and USDA. They are
backed by studies done in the UK. Your government knows this and the result
of their ignoring it is that OVER 4,000 people end up in the hospital every
single year and the number is increasing!
Studies show that less than 5% of commercial organic flocks and 6.5% of
commercial free-range flocks test positive for salmonella. Good news,
right? Well, no because just how many folks buy organic or free-range eggs?
Slim, very small %. AND, a lot of the bills we are talking about will make
those organic and free-range chickens not so organic and not so free-range.
And, you're thinking, "so?" The so is that in major studies done on the
East Coast, upwards of 52% of commercial chicken flocks tested were
infected with salmonella and 25% of the consumer grade eggs tested postive
for salmonella!
The really bad news, 61% of the eggs meant for processing (not what is
called consumer grade) tested positive for salmonella!
And as that guy on radio used to say, here's the "rest of the story," so to
speak. They feed chickens AND inject eggs (that are going to become
chickens, not the ones that head for the grocery shelves) with gentamycin.
So we now have a whole new strain of SE that it gentamycin resistant. Which
inturn gives us a another super bug. In other words, you eat the eggs or
chickens that are injected/fed gentamycin and YOU become a harbor for
gentamycin resistant strains of super bugs!
Oh, and it's not just the chickens laying eggs, it's that chicken on your
dinner plate, too. So, more bad news. It is being fed arsenic! Yep, there
is arsenic ADDED to chicken feed to get them to eat more so that they will
grow faster.
And all of this is done with government approval!

she's not overly fond of eating foods known to contain mercury!
