1. Have an out of hospital birth. Yes, home-birth is safe, statistically it is even safer than a hospital birth. And midwives do take insurance as well.

2. Breastfeed. Breastfeed for a long time.

3. Practice elimination communication and let your baby be butt-naked. You'll love the savings and pinching that cute butt anytime and will be so proud!

4. Co-sleep. Yes, it is safe. Read up on it! Save on the crib!

6. Babywear. Save on a stroller. Yes, you can do without it all together. The freedom and mobility you will get is amazing. Slings are cheaper than strollers, and if you are crafty at all you can make one and save even more.

7. Delay solids until you baby is ready (sits up WELL unassisted, doesn't have a tongue thrust anymore and has a pincer grasp).

8. Do not buy baby food, do not make babyfood. Start with bananas, avocados and baked sweet potato and progress to table foods - if you wait long enough (see #7)  your baby will chew them up like a champ).

9. Buy used clothes or better yet ask for it. People will be happy to share, trust me! You can also get free clothes on Freecycle.org (as well as anything else really).
