Killed For Being a Goth - S.O.P.H.I.E.

This is something that needs to stop.

I'm not sure if many people in America have heard about this. But, there was girl named Sophie Lancaster who, in late 2007 was beaten to death while walking home with her boyfriend because she was a Goth.

This was widley speculated over here in the UK. And you can only imagine the uproar from the alternative community. Every year beneifts are held all over the UK in honour of Sophie.

Sophie was only 20 years old. And the "people" who beat her death were drunken yobs. Basically people who hate goths and reak havok in there local community. Each of the offenders were of course sentenced. The longest being 16 years.

Late in 2008, the attackers actually had the audacity to appeal there sentence. There were a lot of protests against this. Only one sentence was reduced and only by 9 months.

The reason i am telling you all of this extremely sad story is because after Sophie was killed a charity was started by her mother. Known as S.O.P.H.I.E.

Stamp Out Prejudice Hatred + Intolerence Everywhere.

It would be brilliant to get people from across the pond to help support the cause. Of course you do not have to. there is no obligation.

Whenever i read this story i cry. I get scared that this could happen to me or any of my friends. I hate being judged for such reasons. Sophie's death was an eye opener to us over here of how goths are seen. Its horrible.

And do you want to know the worst part....The parents of the attackers actually giggled and sniggered in the courtroom. Apparently there is something funny about beating a young girl to death for being a goth.

that is sad.. i was goth for about 4 years , yeh i got wierd looks and stuff but over here it was more accepted i guess.. but i did see some prejudice.. i will help however i can expcet for money cuz i dont have any but if there is somethng i can do let me know i voted poop for you

wow i watched some realted vidoes and i am just wondering fi there were all these witnesses why didnt any body do anything to try to help them.. they heard her crying for help.. but couldnt go help.. SAD

No one should be killed for being goth...that is so sad.
