Arianna had her Early Intervention Review last week.... she's making progress which is really good... however, there were some concerns.
With her speech, she's having major articulation issues (ie when she says "Emppu" it could also be "apple" or "April", she says veggies like "weedgies" etc), she mixes up sounds consistantly (b for v, f for th, sh for th and s), and she isn't making some sounds (z, l, r, among others). She's also starting to echo quite a bit (she mimics alot and that's normal, however she'll get stuck on a word and just say it... like I'll say back and then she'll be like "backbackbackbackback...." incessantly for a few minutes.). Not sure what is normal (some of it is normal for a 2 year old), they're thinking about bringing speech therapy back in.
She's been having some behavioral issues (she will follow one-step commands, clean up with help, stay on task with her EI teacher, but when I try to do it at home, she refuses to cooperate, no idea why) and I'm wondering how much it could be complicated to the sudden shock of a less cluttered house? Also the time shift kinda tripped Arianna up a little, but that should resolve itself in a few weeks.
They were also concerned with how Arianna holds a crayon, but they think she's modeling how she sees me hold a pencil so it's not too much of a worry.
Her EI teacher said she was going to start coming out every other week to see how well Arianna retains stuff.
The good news... Arianna can now draw circles and dots (you tell her to draw her dots and she'll bang the crayon on the paper saying dot dot dot lol), she recognizes and names some shapes, some colors, and the letters c, i, t, a, and the word cat.
Arianna's preschool teacher is trying to adapt her lesson plans to how active and free-spirited/stubborn/whichever Arianna is, and said she might do more running/jumping and singing songs, that sort of stuff. I sometimes wish Arianna was a more sit and learn type of kid, rather than the active roaming learner she is.... it makes her tough to teach that's for sure.

glad to hear she's progressing!! IT takes some kids a little longer, my nephew was almost 6 before he knew all the letters of the alphabet, and my other nephew is definitely the 'roaming learner' type too. Small steps, she'll get it all in her own time! Good luck and stay strong momma!
