Musings from my mind...

because not all great minds think alike.

PLEASE NOTE BEFORE READING: This is about men and women INJURED in the LINE OF DUTY. Not all military. It is not about active military men and women nor their families. It is not about those no longer in the military- UNLESS, they have been injured!

Currently, in efforts to save us all money- our dear President has put forth the idea that our military men and women that have been wounded in combat should have to pay for their own health care.

Yeah, those burdensome soldiers that put their lives at risk haven't sacrificed enough. Many that cannot work- yet should be responsible for their life long care due to injuries sustained while performing a civic duty to ensure the safety of the American people...

What in God's name are you thinking, Mr. President! I don't see him surrendering his own health care in order to save some pennies for his disgusting pork filled "stimulus" bill. Yet he'd ask these injured veterans, people that bravely did their jobs FOR US, to pay their own bills!

I know we all have to step us and take on the monetary burden he is creating for our children, but these men and women HAVE stepped up already- and if they don't fall under the category of being taken care of by the government, I don't know who does. Surely not those be damned welfare moochin' baby makin' mamas and illegal aliens that we are working so hard to provide free health care for now!

Shame on you, Mr. President.

*It has been commented that the articles linked in the comments do not state that the benefits are going to be "removed." They will be merely moved from the governments responsibility and put into private insurances. Then, they state they will reimburse to a certain extent.

First- the government's health care system is not perfect (it's run by the government! lol) But the medical care IS top notch. Sorry that anyone has to deal with the bureaucracy involved- but to completely remove injured veterans from the system is wrong. We all know what a pain private insurance can be- there job is to save their own money and pay as little as possible. The government used these men and women and they should continue to take care of them- not pawn them off on another group and hope that their already screwed up system will work with another self-serving screwed up system!

Here is my non-fox news source.

Please take a moment and tell President Obama how you feel-

President Obama

Congress (This contains links for both representatives and senators)

Here is my letter, feel free to make it your own as well!

President Obama,

As an American citizen, I am infuriated in learning about your plan to change the health care policies for our injured soldiers. You, yourself, have commented on the problems in private health care insurance- how could you assume this system is capable of properly equipped to take care of these courageous men and women? The government should be fully responsible for taking care of our veterans. If the system they are in is not conducive to proper care- it should be fixed! Focus your time and attention on fixing the obviously messed up system of bureaucracy that our military men and women, as well as their families, have to deal with on a day to day basis! Do not pawn the problem elsewhere- we, as Americans, have to take care of our soldiers! Our military hospitals can be top notch- if we can only fix the way it runs, but the health care providers themselves are what our soldiers deserve!

Thank you for your time,

UPDATED: To those that want this to be a lie, President Obama CONFIRMED the idea this morning! Here's another link!

Yay! Obama scraped the idea... :0) There are those that said we should not worry over things until they become more than just idea. However, I firmly believe that if we, the people, do not like an idea- we should not let in go any further! Why waste time?

Thank you for the debate ladies.

Rather than adding more to this post- I have written another. Please take a moment and read my own response to this journal.

Wow! People are really ticked about this. This is the 3rd journal post I've seen about this topic. Is too much to ask that all the BO worshippers finally open their eyes to who this man is?

This makes about as much sense as voting for him in the first place! Why should those who get hurt protecting our freedoms have to pay for it? Haven't they paid enough??? Why don't we kick some people off of welfare? People who can work and won't? Some who aren't even here legally? Lets give the soldiers a pay raise not the lazy....

I can think of several things that could be cut from the federal budget right now and never be missed. The military and the care for our veterans should be the very last thing to ever be considered. The president himself (regardless of who he is) and the members of Congress should take a pay and benefit cut before our brave military (past and present) should have to feel the pinch.

Carmin, I'd like to see actual sources.
This has been discussed ad nauseam in the Navy Wives group, and so far, it says NOTHING about active duty soldiers - only their dependents.  Veterens already pay co-pays.

Oh yes, sources would be good. Because let's face it, people have been getting their panties in a bunch left and right about that HORRIBLE President Obama, only to be proven wrong...

Okay, correct me if I'm wrong, but I just found a lot talking about this, how they'd like for private insurance to pay first and then have the VA reimburse the insurance company, since the VA, well, SUCKS at providing health care... to the point where it's really hard to find doctors that will accept it because it they can take months and months on paperwork, and were poorly funded for the last decade or so.  So the idea is to have veterans use private health care so they can get immediate care, with a much wider variety of doctors, and then have the VA reimburse the insurance company for a reasonable amount.

I see some issues with it, as I understand all too well how civilian insurance works, but I think neither solution is fantastic at this point - either get crappy care or no care because of underfunded VA benefits, or have to deal with the headache and payments and caps of civilian insurance.
Neither is a great solution.  However, at least veterans would be able to access more doctors in a more timely manner with this program.

Rana- it isn't for active duty soldiers or their families. This is only for those that have been hurt and require long term care.

Here's a source.

This is a new idea that Obama has to help save money- however, all questions directed to Obama or his team in regards to it have been ignored thus far. I am hoping that more information will come out as we continue to make a big deal about this. I would include more links- most news sources were posting information this morning. However, they all linked to this one! :0)  The AIG "surprise" seems to be the main media focus today though, not our military.

Forgive me Anouck for getting my "panties in a wad" but I have yet to be proven wrong in any of my concerns. I've never said Obama was horrible- but he isn't great either.
