I love Spring!

My favorite time of year is Fall, but Spring is a close second. I read somewhere that at the end of  a perfect spring day, everyone should smell like dirt and I agree! LOL There's no place I'd rather be than on my knees digging in my flower gardens. I don't much like to pick up the stuff I dig out but I do love to dig and weed. Put me in a flower garden with my  little claw trowel in my hand and I'm happy. Our earth is reborn each spring when the tiny green leaves appear and the flowers bud and bloom. I have big plans for my newest flower garden this year. Last year it was carved out of a grassy lawn, I planted the main bushes and some perinnials, but this year I'll finsh filling it in. I also need some color out there for winter and more for fall, I tend to lean too heavy toward spring and after that, it's all gone!  but I do have lots of daylilies and canas and shasta daisies. Soon the azaleas will be in full bloom, right now they're just budding out. I can't wait!

Last year when I put in the fieldstone patio in the middle, I did what the lady at the garden supply told me and and filled in between the stones with sand. It doesn't work too well and we plan to get the sand out, and fill it back in with cement. My next project will be to get a patio cover so it'll be shadier and put in a ceiling fan and lights. Hope it gets done this spring but if now, maybe next  year, huh?

Anymore spring lovers out there????? Any gardeners?????I hope so!

I love Autumn and Spring too! I think the sand you might have needed is polymeric sand?  You mist it after it's filled, and it hardens somewhat so weeds don't grow.  We did this on our paver deck.  I have flagstone paths that were filled with slag.. which I hate! They were always popping up... but over a couple years.. moss has filled in and I'm finally happy!  I wish in the first place I had just filled the cracks with dirt and creeping thyme or something..
