Hi Everyone, Thursday, March 19, 2009
We've had an exciting few days since I wrote to you last. This past weekend, we worked with a group of students from the local Youth With a Mission (YWAM) base and were able to share the Gospel with about 300 children. With the help of the YWAM team, we hosted two back-to-school festivals with games, clowns,
evangelistic drama, Biblical storytelling and a raffle of school supplies in two different neighborhoods: Virgin de Dolores (Virgen of Pain) and Jardin (Garden). There were also many parents who attended and watched and listened as we played with their children. Three of those mothers have invited us to come to their homes and share with them more about our purpose and faith.

Miriam lives at the very back of the neighborhood right next to the river. She's lived on that property with her parents and now her husband and 10 children for over 25 years. She is very interested in learning more about the Bible and has agreed to start meeting with us every other Saturday to study the Scriptures together. Gladys also has 10 children, but only four of them are still at home. She is a believer already, but left the church a long time ago. She is now ready to take a chance with fellow Christians again and has agreed to come to our new church-in-formation. We still have one more new contact to visit this week.
Thank you for praying with us about the combination of the two groups into one to form a church-in-formation in Barrio Jardin. Our first meeting went well and our second meeting grew in size...but there are still issues to work through as we help transition these neighbors into a spiritual family. As I said last week, baptism is the next step and one that is a big decision for a lot of people.
On a personal level, Eli is doing well in school. On the advice of his teacher, we are scheduling an eye exam. It seems that he has trouble copying from the board and he's on the front row.
We've had some frustrating news on the adoption front, we turned in a letter to one of the adoption judges before Christmas and found out today that her staff had not informed her that they'd received it. Thankfully, she gave us the phone number for her personal secretary and told us to start calling about every two weeks to find out how our file is progressing.
O God! Your way is holy! No god is great like God! You're the God who makes things happen; you showed everyone what you can do— You pulled your people out of the worst kind of trouble, rescued the children of Jacob and Joseph.
Psalm 77:13-15 (The Message)
As you pray for us this week, please keep in mind:
* The church-in-formation in Barrio Jardin: Pray that the group will gel, pray that Lorena, Gabriel and Elena will recognize the need for and be obedient to baptism, pray that David & I will lead the group wisely.
* Please pray for Miriam and the new outreach group we'll begin on the back side of the neighborhood.
* Pray that we'll be able to get an appointment soon with the eye doctor and we'll be able to straighten out his vision troubles.
* Pray for favor from the adoption judges here. Pray that God will grant us the desires of our hearts and grow our family.
* Pray for the volunteer teams and the "Shotguns & Fishin Pole" strategies we're planning to put in place this year. - July 23-30 - FBC Jay, OK will be working with us in Quitilipi,
Chaco
- August 11-20 - Williams Trace Baptist Church will be working
with us in Paso de la Patria.
Thank you for standing by us through prayer. Please let us know how we can pray for you.
Because He Calls,
Alisha, David & Eli Holt

Love to hear good reports about things going on in your ministry! You are furthering the kingdom just as He has asked us to do! Sorry about the adoption set back, but hopefully now things will be in full swing! I keep praying! I know God will give you this desire of your heart! His timing isnt always understood but it is surely perfect! Love you!
