I have been talking daily with a close friend of mine who is a firm atheist. I know that my "side" is based on faith and trust but is that not what her "side" is based on?

She believes the universe was created by the Big Bang. This is nothing but a theory that science can not prove for the simple fact it goes against ever scientific fact ever. First mass explosions or expansions never in all of history have created anything, only destroyed. Second, sin science nothing ever randomly comes together. Like mass. Think about it, all through school you are taught that two things can not occupy the same space. So tell me how our vast universe was all contained in a single space? So is thinking the world was created by an explosion or mass expansion not just having faith?

She also believes we came from monkeys, we evolved. Now in the evaluational theory everything continually evolves right? Well we have all seen the evolutionary chart, tell me why monkeys are not evolving anymore, and why dont we see any of those things that are in between the monkey and the human? Why are humans not still evolving into something else? So isnt believing we evolved based on faith?

Okay, the main argument I get from her is "there is so much evil in the world, there can not be a God. If there is a God he is evil." God is good and loving and there is no such thing as evil. Just like there is no such thing as cold or dark. Scientifically speaking anyway. Lets take cold. You can not measure cold. It only goes to absolute zero, which is the complete absence of heat. There is no stopping point to heat. There is low heat, no heat, a lot of heat and mass amount of heat, and so on. But you can not put a cap on it. Cold is just a word we humans have given it. Now, lets talk dark. Same thing as cold, no such thing. It only goes so far. There is only the absence of light. Blah blah blah. Now You probably know where I am going with evil, but in case you dont... It is only the absence of God. Evil is just like the cold and dark, a made up word to describe the absence of something. Oh, and sickness and illness is not evil, it is your science that causes those.

Lets talk logic and sensory perception. Obviously one of the main arguments is you cant see, touch, feel, taste or touch God, so he must not be there. Now tell me do you have a brain? By my sensory perception you dont. Now I know you can have a brain scan and show it to me, but do you have one for every person on earth? So by all your logic you must not have a brain until you can see it, touch it, taste it, feel it or smell it. Right? Or do you believe you have a brain on faith? Not just you but everyone? Or by your own logic do you assume no one has one until it can be proven?

I mean obviously your science and logic are severely flawed right? So why is it so much easier to believe in that then something that is so solid and consistent? Why am I blind because I put my faith in something when you are doing the same thing? Faith is a natural part of life. Faith in friends, family, science, religion. Everyone has faith in something. Another question I have. Why am I bashed and made fun of for having faith?

So lets for arguments sake lets say I am wrong. Oh well. I die and nothing happens right? Now tell me, what happens if you are wrong?

Not every athiest believes in the Big Bang theory, first of all. Secondly, SCIENCE as a whole, is provable. The existence of god, ANY god, is not. Having faith in friends and family is not comparable because the existence of friends and family is undeniable. You could propose that I don't have a brain if you'd like, but the existence of brains is factual and provable, unlike the existence of "god".

I don't entertain thoughts of what will happen if I'm wrong because it's just not what I believe. And if someone is so strong of a Christian and they love god, why does being wrong even matter? Is it a cop out? Is it "If I'm right, I go to heaven, which is awesome; but if  I'm wrong and there is no god, I just don't go anywhere. It's a win-win!"? That seems faulty to me.

Those were just points my friend was making. Now science is only partialy provable. There are many many things that can not be proven or explained by science. And the what if I am wrong was a for arguments sake, what if. And knowing you have friends and family is well obvious, and I honestly think you know what I was talking about. Faith that they will be there when you need them, keep your secrets, love you no matter what. And like you I dont entertain thoughts like that because I have complete and total faith and trust. It is just one of the many many points that have been brought up that I wrote down.

Can I ask how you believe we got here? How you think the universe came into existence? And you do know that science has unexplained things right? This is why they are called theories.
