Pick My Brain If You dare

Venture into my crazy life w/ 2 boys!

Ok, I've seen a few of these kinda post and always enjoy reading them so i thought I'd finally do one of my own.

Ok, my first kid, surprise! who new you couldn't leave condoms in a hot car and that would weaken them *LOL*? Here's the short version of that prego time. Puked the whole 9 months and about 2 weeks after he was born due to my stinkin hormones. I had to be fed through a p.i.c. line because I couldn't even suck on a ice cube and keep it down. at 5 months along they even took out my gallbladder thinking that's why I was so sick because they'd never seen anyone as bad as me before. Nope, that wasn't it so then I was puking with staples in my belly and a baby kicking me in the stitches and spot they removed my gallbladder. I lost about 30lbs during my pregnancy. and was stoned on anti nausea medications.

Me at almost 7 months ona fairly good day and drugged up.

 Me about 8 months prego.

Now for my birthing ordeal.

I was sitting on the couch just chillin' when i felt like a gas bubble had popped in my belly then it felt lie a little pee in my underwear. Huh? i though maybe the baby kicked my bladder. I got up to go use the bathroom and GUSH, yep, my water broke. i called my Dr.'s office to tell them, the stupid woman said that because the office was still opened i had to go down there and have them check to make sure it wasn't just pee especially being my first i could be wrong. I told the woman, I didn't trickle I gush, it was clear, i had no pain until it broke and know i feel like I'm gonna die! Still have to come in they told me. I walked in the office, not in the nicest mood you can imagine, and with a wet towel between my legs I grabbed it, held, it up, and said, "there see?!!?" The nurse who had given be a hard time still insisted I go back so she can  check me out. Well, I went back, pulled my bottoms down, laid on the table and spread my legs, as she went to stick one of those little strips that turn blue if your water broke up in me, gush again...all over the nurse and she squealed like a little girl. SWEET UNPLANNED REVENGE *LOL*!!! Needless to say I went to the hospital. this probably isn't normal for most women. but because i had been in and out of the O.B. for 9 months i had all the nurses come in and check on me, hug me, and want to see the baby throughout my labor and delivery. Anyway, I got there and the nurses were like, "Abbey! She finally gonna get that baby out and feel  better." Well, there was no room at the inn. all the nice home looking rooms were full so I got an older room that looked a lot like a surgical room, nice. I go through a crappy pregnancy and don't even get a nice room. Anyway, I was doing the normal, I'm going to die it hurts so bad" woman in labor thing. I hadn't taken any Lamaze class so i didn't really know to much what to expect. i keep telling the nurse"It feels like the baby is coming out of my butt!" Which i found out later is normal. My poor husband who i know was just trying to help, kept getting like an inch from my face. I felt smothered like i couldn't breath and kept asking him to back off but he wouldn't listen...so I slapped him the face! I still haven't lived that down yet. In my defense, i did warn him*LOL*. The Dr. tells me I can have an epi now if I want it. What kind of stupid question is that YES I WANT IT. here's the trick. You have to bend over in horrible labor pain and attempt to put your head between your knees. Excuse me? Are you joking? Ok, I'll try anything to make this pain go away. he sticks the needle in, I screamed louder then I did when in labor and it hurt much worse then labor too!!! Well, the idiot didn't do it right and the epi didn't even work so not only did I have the baby naturally I did it with a needle in my spine. After 8 1/2 hours of labor i was still at only 9 cm so they decided to give me plutocin (sp?) to increase the labor. Great just what i need, the labor to get worse if that' even possible. They finally gave up because the medication didn't work and just had me start pushing at 9cm (and i was still at 9 when he finally came out!). I pushed for about 1 hour and he kept getting stuck. So the Dr. said they have to cut me.  Cut me they sure did,  from my vagina to my butt hole *wince*. i screamed and the Dr. looked at me with shock and said, "You can feel that?" "yes, I told you the epi didn't work!" I replied. I guess he thought I was making it up or something stupid. So then he stuck a needle in me down there to numb the rest of it before he finished cutting. Gee thanks, more needles. Well he finally came out and I think there's something wrong because a couple nurses said OMG! Turns out he was just big. The Dr. and nurses then proceeded to take bets on how much he weighed before weighing him. He was 9lbs 8 1/4 oz. Not bad for someone who puked the whole 9 months and was a 7 pound baby herself. He was a little low on oxygen so they gave him some for about 20 minutes and then he was fine.

Asher Slade, 1 hour old.

A couple weeks old with Daddy.

Ok, now for baby #2 Another surprise.Dr told me i couldn't get prego because I hadn't had a period in over a year so don't worry about birth control, wrong! Exact same kind of pregnancy. Minus the whole gallbladder thing obviously plus I had to take care of a two year old while sick and in and out of the hospital. When I reached 36 weeks they said they couldn't weight any longer to induce me because my blood pressure was to high and i was getting preeclampsia (sp?). Plus they said the baby already seemed pretty big and they didn't want me to not be able to push him out. Well, they gave me some kinda ring they insert into you vagina to induce you. they leave it there for a few hours then take it out. Before time was even up my water broke.Labor, oh yes I remember that pain, welcome back old friend *sarcasm intended*. this labor pain was a million times worse and had just started. My husband was begging me to get the epi but i didn't want it because of what happen last time. the nurse told me it was a different guy this time and he does a good job. Between the nurse, my hubby, and the pain I gave in. The guy came in and gave me the epi. Granted it still hurt but nothing like the other one. And this one worked! When the guy came back in and asked me if it was working good I asked him if he'd marry me*LOL!!! I think I took him off guard at first but then he kinda let out a surprised/shy laugh. I was labor for about 4 hours and pushed about 1/2 hour. It was so much easier because I could concentrate more on what i had to do then hardly being able to breath because of the pain. It still hurt but not like before the epi, it was 100x's better then that. The nurse at one point had to run into the hallway and call the Dr. and said, "We have a good pusher you'd better hurry up and come in this room or you'll miss it. The Dr. came running down the hall and about 10 minutes later he was born. 9lbs. at only 36 weeks, they said he'd be between 12-14 lbs. had I gone full term.

Phoenix Lyric about 10 seconds old!

He wasn't breathing and was blue. He ended up on oxygen and in the hospital for almost 2 weeks. It was several days before he was breathing all the time, before that he'd quit every so often for a few seconds, the nurses would rub him and move him around a little and he'd usually start back up again. So very scary!!!

Sorry about the picture clarity, I didn't have a digital camera and so these our pictures i took of my original pictures.

Big brother visiting baby, he was SO protective of him!

If you're wondering what the tube in his stomach is, it's a G-tube that he had the first 10 months of his life because he was unable to suck/swallow so he couldn't eat and had to be fed that way. The Dr. has told me if i get prego again either the baby would die or we'd both die. And the pediatrician said even if the baby survive he or she would probably have even more problems then phoenix did. Which sux because i always wanted four kids.
