Alzheimers

We are asking for your support and the support of anyone you can think of.  As most of you know my Mom, Retta, has been diagnosed as having Alzheimer's and it is a pretty devastating disease.  This is a disease where you watch the ones you love change before your very eyes.  Mom has days where she seems like her old self and then there are days that she can't remember what she had for lunch 30 minutes after eating.  There may not be a cure in her life time but with everyone's help there might be a cure for the next generation. 

We are being told by her Neurosurgeon that the day will come when her body will forget how to do the most basic of things.  We all take our ability to walk, dress ourselves, feed ourselves, make our own plates and go to the bathroom for granted.  What if you woke up one day and couldn't remember how to do any of this?  There are people out there who wake up every day and don't know what they should do next, you and I know that you pull back the covers, swing your legs over the side of the bed, stand up, go to the bathroom, take a shower and get dressed.  These poor people with Alzheimer's get to the point where they lay there and wait for someone to do those things for them because their minds are a total blank.

Mom isn't there yet but we know the time will come when she will forget names and faces.
