I live very close to a High school. With living this close to the school we have to deal with High school traffic. I knew it would be loud in the afternoons, as cars came too and fro.
In my naivety, I thought, at least they will be going slow since i live on the corner of a three way stop.
Well I was wrong. They FLY! You should see the tire marks where boys in their big trucks spin tires and squeal out, every afternoon nearly. Not only that, but during anytime other than morning school traffic and afternoon traffic, the stop sign apparently magically transforms into a yeild sign. People are constantly running the stop sign. My drive way is 20 feet from this intersection.
I have told the sherriffs department over our county, I have told the town cop (yes there is only one police officer for our town) I have called the principle....not really much he can do.
The sherriff has been patrolling more, but never at the right place at the right time.
Tuesday I was working in my flower beds. I heard a ruckus in the parking lot to the baseball fields (is directly diagonal from my house) and looked up to see 2 cars spinning donuts in the gravel lot.
I decided at that point I had had it. I went inside to get my phone, and came back outside. Stood on my porch watching the hoodlums sling gravel EVERYWHERE. THEY SAW ME ON THE PHONE AND LEFT. I ended up not finding the direct line to the sheriff's department in time to call them, but at least i scared them off right?
About 5 minutes later the tech school bus drove by the house followed by the two idiots/kids that had been spinning donuts in the parking lot. (our county has a vocational center, and 10-12 grades can elect to go to tech school to learn a trade, I did this for business education, so i know that sometimes kids are allowed to drive there own vehicles to tech school in order to leave straight from school to go to work) Driving behind the bus, you are still considered to be in school and have to follow the conduct rules in the school systems handbook.
I called and told the principle about the incident, not sure if the kid was punished or not. Don't care, i just want people to quit driving like idiots on our street where the speed limit is 25 MPH.
Today, i had the door open because its still wet outside and when we can't go out Jack likes to sit in front of the door and look out. I noticed as the tech bus was leaving today, the same kid in the same vehicle had both hands (off the wheel i might add) out the drivers side window, on the side away from my house, held up above the hood of his SUV, and was flipping me off.
What would you do?
They were spinning donuts in the parking lot behind that white fence in the pic.
There is a stop sign on the other side of that tree line to the left of my car, as well as a small hill, I have almost been hit several times my stop sign running vehicles as I was backing out of my drive way.
There is also a stop sign at the end of the road that runs in front of the parking lot by the ball field.
This is a pic taken from my Front porch, you can understand my worry with crazy drivers as if they loose control and run off the road, not far to go until you hit my house or my car. or anyone (my kids) that might be playing in the front yard..
We are in the middle of landscaping (growing grass) in the back yard, previous tennants had an above ground pool that left a mud pit, until it is covered with grass it is not feasible to play back there. Which we will do once it is fixed.
However, people should still be made to follow traffic laws and drive safely on this road.

See what you can do about installing speed bumps. They do work as a great deterrent to speeders.

Well, I live right in the middle of 3 schools, a elemntary, middle and high. Out of everyone on the block we are the ones that call the cops for any little thing that happens. I mean like last night there were 2 cars that pulled on the block, one got out got something out of the trunk and put it in the trunk of the other car an took off, they came back an hour later, got the other ccar and took off.
