Ever have one of those moments where you can see something bad developing before your eyes and it is like slow motion?
I had one this evening.
I was driving down a 2 lane road on my way home. I was driving our Pontiac Sunfire and had my three kids and dog in the back. Abbie was sleeping.
As I am driving I notice that about 300ft ahead of me there is a big ass Dodge/Ford truck stop (the person in front of them was turning) and behind them a little green Taurus was closing in fast....
Well the person turned but the truck didn't move fast enough...the person in the Taurus couldn't stop (the roads were wet and slick)....she locked up the brakes, jerked the car off onto the side missing the truck but went up a small bank and was headed (at about 55-65MPH) dead at my car....pointed where Abbie was sleeping.
Thankfully I didn't hesitate....I slammed the breaks, flipped the steering wheel in the direction on the skid and flipped the back end of my car just in time....she missed us....BARELY. If I would have hesitated I probably would have lost my baby girl.
There wasn't any traffic (except me, the Taurus and the truck) on the road at that time....another huge bonus because when I finally stopped sliding I was in the oncoming traffic lane.
I make sure the kids are okay and turn around to make sure no one was hurt.
Who almost killed my baby but a fucking teenager (she was no more then 17). I wanted to stomp her. I think the only thing that stopped me from getting out of my car was the fact that my legs were jello from fear.
This girl was rattled...visibly shaking and apologetic. She said her brakes failed....she's full of shit because once she got the car back under control she had no problem stopping. I told her she almost killed my kids. She started crying and apologizing more. I wanted her to know. I wanted her to realize what her stunt had almost done.
It probably came off as mean and cruel but maybe next time she will think before she decides to do something so incredibly stupid.
No one was hurt in any of the vehicles but I came home, called my dad and thanked him for teaching me how to drive.
Comments:
dude. if that were ME....i would have overcome the jello in my legs and really let her have it. that is baloney. sad part is, that scenario probably didnt even teach her a thing. glad you and the children (and pooch) are all ok. that could have been an ugly scene.
Oh Chasa!!! I'm so glad you are all ok. I would have done the exact same thing. Reem her out and hope she learned her lesson!!
Oh wow! That's so scary. I am glad you all are alright! I am sure she was really scared too, hopefully she learned her lesson.
The jello in my legs would have been slammed sideways up her idiotic butt!!! I actually got hit while PREGNANT because some teen was racing to beat a yellow light, and I ripped her a new one, grabbing her hand and putting it where dd was kicking and telling her she could've killed my baby by her thoughtlessness! The cop just looked at me all amazed and then took the girl to jail. LOL Turns out, she was driving on a suspended anyways for possesion charges and only supposed to use it to go to school and work--she was at the beach. BUSTED.
I had a 17 year old guy slam into the back of me while I was waiting to turn into my house. He had plenty of room to go around but just wasn't paying attention. He spun me into oncoming traffic. I got out and screamed at him, he was sooo lucky my baby wasn't in the car, but he would be dead right now. No what you did was not mean, just plain damn fact!
