Here's how I get my books on CDs into my iPod as Audiobooks.
Open iTunes then put the first CD of the 'book' into your computer CD drive & close the door.
A window will open that gives the option of importing the CD to the iTunes Library. Click YES. This part will take a few minutes as the various chapters are copied into your computer. After you do this with all the CDs, go to your iTunes library and scroll down until you find the files for your book.
Right click your mouse on the first file and choose Get Info.
From the tabs across the top. Choose Options.
*Important! Near the middle of this new window at Media Kind, change from 'music' to 'audio book'
Then check each of the three boxes at the bottom: 1. Remember playback position, 2. skip when shuffling, and 3. part of gapless album
Click Next to go to the next Chapter and repeat from the * above.
The name of the file you currently have in front of you is shown in the upper left in the blue header. When you think you're nearing the end of the book, watch closely so you don't change your music to audiobook or you'll wonder later where it went!
Enjoy listening!
