Long time no...well...weirdness? LOL... I've been quite the busy bee. Sam was home this week from his morning class (he goes to the public school for his therapies), so I was so excited and happy to have my Sammy home! We had a fun week, but DH was home a lot too, so, OH...My... the whining that can go on when that combo of people is here... and I didn't even factor in anyone else's whining except for MINE!
So, we have been busy. Good busy. The chickens are laying like CAR-AZY!!!! We're getting upwards of a dozen eggs a day... LOL... its funny only because we use them, I bake so much and one breakfast around here can be a dozen eggs... So that is quite a blessing, even a little bit of money saved is money saved! The girls (the chickens) are also SO much happier now that the weather has broken somewhat (LOL, we did get some snow yesterday, it will be gone by tomorrow), but they love the boys chasing them and they love chasing the cats... its so joy-inducing to watch all of the happy goings-on here.
OK... So, Easter's coming up. Been practicing every Sunday night for Easter Choir. Its just such a blessing to be in a place with others to worship and pray that we will touch hearts on Easter Sunday morning.
A couple weeks ago, it was announced that a university concert choir would be performing on Palm Sunday. Housing was needed for about 50 students. I was like... OK... so I told the lady heading it up that I could take in about 4 or 5 students. I've been preparing (buying extra breakfast food, waking up a little earlier to be sure I will be able to wake college kids, get breakfast made, get them to church an hour early, get back home, get my boys fed and dressed and out the door in time...) and teasing my mom that (when she asked "HOW are you going to entertain them?) we'll be turning off the TV (basketball has been on this idiot box for weeks on end... I can't stand squeaking shoes anymore...) anyhow, that I'll be turning off the television and we will be coming down to sing Kumbaya to her.... She wasn't amused. I, however, think I wet my pants a little. Anyhow... today an announcement was made that there was still a need for about 20 more spots for housing the students. The service continued and I felt a little tap on my shoulder... It was God (for those of you who may be reading this that are not all out Bible Beaters... I do not hear voices, I am fully sane (ish) and in full control of my faculties - unless I laugh too hard)... tap...tap...tap...Hey Jen... You know... you do have room for more than 4 students. And then we stood and were singing and I was able to put that off for a while, and I was laughing more because Sam, instead of singing "Holy, Holy, Holy" was singing "Holy, Moly, Mommy" and then when the sermon started...there it was again. Tap...Tap...Tap. Hey Jen... OK!!!!! I GET IT. So I sat there fighting it. Then when service was over I went over to the lady who is heading it up...and told her that I had been holding back and I got a bit of a tap on the shoulder during service and she laughed... she asked how many more we could accomodate. I told her up to 12. Her jaw dropped and someone else standing there was like, I think you just got punched - that was WAY more than a tap!... So that was funny... but I really couldn't make any excuses... If I can accomodate 15-20 family and friends for a weekend, I certainly don't have an excuse to not take in 12 students for an overnight. I am, however, wondering what I got myself into. I'm going to have to get up really early. Start showers the night before... be up on "mom patrol" all night (because of the possibility that we will, with that many, have a co-ed group)... oh my! So... that's what's happening around here! Crazy stuff, huh? Oh yeah... and we got a new critter. Named Homer. Homer is an adorable bunny. I wub him. The boys wub him. The residents at the nursing home (We take Henry - my neurotic cockapoo- to visit every other week and last week we took Henry and Homer) LOVED Homer... Henry was a bit jealous. But next time we go, we are taking just bunnies... Homer will go again and one of our girl bunnies, Esther, will go as well. Bunnies for Easter and I'll think of something to hand out to go along with Easter. Oh... those people are such a blessing to us. I love it that we go to serve and we are ministered to just by being there. God is SO good!
