The Memphis School of Preaching had their lectureship this week and I listened to some of the sessions online (www.oabs.org should have them archived). One of the speakers was Dan (I think that's his first name) Winkler, the father of Matt Winkler. Matt was the preacher who was murdered a year or so ago.

Mr Winkler had a very moving lesson. Toward the end, he mentioned John 3:16

Everyone knows this one: For God so loved the world that He gave His Only Begotten Son, that whosoever believeth on Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.  He didn't say will not, but should not.

I digress. Mr. Winkler pointed out that when you read or say that verse, God is speaking directly to YOU.  And to me. Put your name in the verse.  For God so loved Dottie that He gave His only begotten Son, that if Dottie believes in Him she should not perish but have everlasting life.

Christ died for me. For my sins. What greater gift of love is there?  To know that Someone loved you enough to die for you nearly 2000 years before you were born.

I will never be good enough to be deserving of that gift, but He did it anyway. How awesome, how humbling is that?

It's very humbling...I agree. I've been thinking about that very same thing  a lot.  This is a special month for us because we observe the memorial of Jesus death on the 9th.  We've been busy passing out invitations to all who would like to come observe it with us at our Kingdom Hall.  It is a very important, special event.
