My daughters have a friend named T. Her mom and her boyfriend broke up a few months back... don't know why, we really liked the guy but who knows. The mom was in a really bad position and out of work. She was pregnant by a guy she was seeing who lived in another state who wanted nothing to do with the baby. They ended up having their house foreclosed on. The boyfriend moved out a few months before and the church my kids go to helped their younger girls go to a christian orphanage and move the mom into a extended stay motel in a good part of town. The mom had the baby in January and she could see her kids every once a while. I guess she got a job and was able to rent a house and move her now FIVE girls in with her. It moved pretty quick so I am assuming she had some help but I'm not sure. Luckily the girls were only in the orphanage about 2 months. My kids got a call yesterday saying that a TV had fallen on one of the girls and her mom drove them to the hospital. I asked if it was the baby but she didn't know. At 9'oclock after my husband went to bed and I was finishing up some things in the kitchen I hear sniffling and feet coming down stairs. My daughter (T's best friend) comes down crying and I said "Oh my god what's wrong, Did the baby die?" and she says yes. She tells me that the hospital couldn't handle it so they sent her to Vanderbilt Children's Hospital and she died on the way. The baby must have only been 2 months old. T. left the room for a minute to get some school work and heard a crash and came back in and found the baby under the TV. Can you even imagine? I can not. Plus now this 8th grade girl will think about this...probably her whole life. Emily says that T. knows it was not her fault that the TV fell but she is of course upset. I wanted to post this, just to get it out but I didn't want to put it on my Myspace where my kids could see me writing about it. I had always felt like adoption was what was best for that baby and now I am really sad that she didn't choose that option because little Sophie would still be here today if she had. I know that part is just my opinion but it is just so sad. they always say that you need to secure your furniture and electronics long before they are mobile and this proves it. For those of you that pray, please pray for the babies family. I am starting to cry now so I am going to close......
