At 2:28 am (March 29, 2009) I gave birth to Daniel Owen Snelling. He weighted 1 lbs 14.7 oz and was 13 1/2 inches long. My due date was June 30th 2009, so that makes him about 3 months early. Daniel had to be taken to a Children's Hospital in Dayton, Ohio. Last time I heard from the hospital, Daniel was doing good.  I'm hoping for the best, my husband and I are going to see him tomorrow. I gave home before the doctor wanted me too. But I want to go to the hospital early. Has of right now, I'm doing good.

Our visit was good. So far everything with Daniel is going good. But the doctors did say that could change.  They also said that there is a valve in every babys heart that would normaly close at birth but since he is so early his didn't close. So they are watching that and hoping it will close on its own but if it doesn't they are going to try some meds...but if that doesn't work then they will have to go in and close it. The doctors also told us that he has a little blood around his brain but the doctors said at this is normal in most babys his age. So they are also watching that too.

We are plainning on visiting Daniel every week. Hopefully we will be able too.

Not much has changed with him. The doctors started him of some meds to help with the problem in his heart. Daniel isn't showing any signs at the bleeding in his head is causing any problems. They also told us that after the problem with his heart is fixed they can start feeding him. We also found out it will be about a month before he can come out of that box. Daniel's coloring looks a lot better too. We got to see his eyes today.  Over all he is doing good, still very tiny.  We are planing on seeing him again on Easter (next Sunday).

A few things have changed with Daniel. The problem with his heart is fixed and he is being fed through a little tube which is in his mouth. The doctors are still watching the bleeding in his head. But don't think it will change.
We got to hear him cry today. And spilt up some of his milk. He opened his eyes again today also. He is already gettting a big belly. But will still be a long time before he can come out of his box. Next visit is planed for next Sunday.

Nothing has really changed with him. He now has a hat. The docotors are still watching the bleeding in his head.

I'm going to try to up-date this post every Sunday and post new pictures too, so please check them out and comment on them if you want too.

Hang in there. If your visiting every week, maybe the nurses will take pics for you. Just get one of those disposable cameras for them. *HUGS*  I've been there so if you even need to talk, let me know.

I came by for the Mother's Day basket, but your little guy caught my eye.  I hope everything continues to go well with him!  It made me cry to read about him.  My brother was born 3 months early too and now he's 32. :)  Your family will be in my thoughts!

I gave birth to a preemie miracle in Oct at 28 weeks. It is a roller coaster ride but it sure is worth it.
