12 year old suffers brain aneurysm update#3 good news!

Abby is off the vent now, breathing well on her own, they had it off then wanted to cut back some meds so turned it on like 4 just in case and now its off again. I have a new site with lots of info from her family, friends, etc at www.caringbridge.org/visit/forabby I was doing some research the other day and came across Boston Childrens Hospital Neurology, a Dr. Edward Smith has some really great reviews, and specializes in whats wrong with our Abby. Some of the drs at Albany have just given up, they kept telling us to consider unplugging her, the damage was premanent, then said well maybe not... I emailed Boston Childrens and less than 2 hours later Dr Smith emailed me back. I spoke to him the next day on the phone, he is calling Albany to speak to Abby's main dr, I call him Dr. Yamadumbass...its Yamamoto...whatever...I shipped U.P.S. her Ct Scan of her brain to Boston, it should be there Thursday by 10am. Albany wants us to look into a long term live in rehab home for brain trauma patients, now that she is off the vent, which they said she never would be, so kiss my ass haha because she is breathing on her own doc! Anyway the family said nooooo she isnt going anywhere til we get answers and if you cant give them to us and wont do further testing then we want her to go to Boston. So its thursday 5am, Im waitng for the Boston Dr. Smith to get the records, then he said he will call us back. Im so impressed by this dr Smith from Boston, he seems so eager to help,, really interested and told us he has a 12 year old daughter and is taking this personally. I have a feeling he is going to be my favorite person ever. For the first time since this began I truly feel positive that Abby has a real chance to recover. Wow, I am glad  you found a good doc and pray that he can help.  I know first hand the about not giving up, even ehen docs do... so tell Abby "you go girl and keep up the good work."  I pray for coninued progress and healing. Hang in there and take care.
