When she was a young girl,

She would dance traditional

In competitions,

At intertribals,

She was serious

About her dancing.

She felt the drumbeat

In her soul

Long after the powwow

She grew up and away

From the rez

Tried to fit in a world

That didn't want her.

She longs to go back in time

To the world

Where she could dance traditional

All the time.
