Yikes! We did not accomplish any homeschooling today! No. I take that back. We did do home school today. We did the type of school today which was a great reminder of why we felt led to home school 15 years ago. This morning held lessons of the heart. There were no work book pages completed and no tests taken. However, my prayer is that the word of God was written on my children's hearts today.
I have been learning as each day, month and year passes, that parenting is just as much about me growing up as my children growing up. And growing up in Christ is more about greater dependence on Jesus and less on myself. I cannot tell you how many times I had the new school year planned out.
All was in order. All was neatly planned. Then wham. Here comes another baby and three months of the school year is spent in fatigue and nausea. Or we had a job transfer, so school lessons were reduced to packing boxes and cleaning. Oh my! How His ways are not my ways.
Today was similar. I was planning to do our normal schedule. However, attitudes were out of alignment so I knew I had to set the books aside. Here are some snips some of today's teachings.
"I love you. That is why I have to correct you. God loves you. He disciplines you because He loves you."
"God takes us through different seasons of our lives to grow us and teach us to be content. Paul was content in all of his circumstances. He was beaten, imprisoned, ship wrecked and endured a bunch of other devastating adversities. But he chose to be content even when he had no food and was hungry."
"Every circumstance proposes opportunities. Which opportunity will we take? The one to complain and "belly ache" about what we do not have? Or will we choose to be thankful for all we do have. Your father works hard everyday and gets frustrated at times with his work environment. However, he chooses to be thankful that God has provided for our family and comes home cheerful and happy. We should all follow his example and choose to be grateful and to always ponder God's many benefits."
"Negativity breeds negativity. The more negativity in our hearts, the more cloudy life looks. For every negative thought that you think, replace it with a positive one and then choose to be grateful.
"There are things that you do not have that you may think will make you happy if you only had them. That is a lie. Jesus is the only one who can fill your heart. Grumbling , negativity, and disrespect is a sign that your heart is empty of God. The issue is not about not having this or that. It is about a heart void and in need of Jesus."
"And remember, I say these things because I love you. God wants your heart. That is where true joy is found ....in walking with Him and knowing Him. Then we realize we are truly blessed because we then walk in love , joy , peace, patience, kindness, goodness , faithful, gentleness, and self control"
Well, folks that was a short version of our curriculum today.....the word of truth! And it was just as much for mommy as for the children. Any of you having days like that lately? Blessings!! Ange
