Im dreading Easter just like I do every other holiday. My MIL and FIL are divorced, so that always means having to go to an extra meal or party, and then they constantly have to outdo each other on gifts. But it doesnt stop there. They have to outdo my DH and me too. DH and I couldnt afford hardly anything for Easter so the kids are getting just a little bit of candy and a pail and shovel. Theyre 1 and 4. MIL bought them mondterouse baskets with candy, little toys, outfits, movies... the whole nine yards. FIL finds out tonight that we are planning on getting the kids a new wagon within the next couple of weeks when my sister pays me back the money she borrowed. So... Easter bunny is bringing a new wagon to his house.
Not to sound ungreatful or anything but I hate it that my kids are going to start thinking that all of the good things come from them and not from us. They just suck all of the fun right out of the damn holidays for me.

Hang in there, try to have fun with your kids, coloring eggs and the other small things that we do with our kids. Believe me, they remember the "small" things that we do and sometimes they are better then the "bigger things". I know what you mean about trying to out do each other, I feel the same way that you do, I really get down in the dumps sometimes, but I just have to remember that maybe one day I will get to do the "BIG" things, although maybe my kids won't want the "big" things from us. Saves on our pocket book that's for sure! Have a VERY Happy Easter and try not to be to down tomorrow!! Keep your chin held up high!!
