THE BATTLE OVER VACCINE SAFETY.

Ok, I know that the battle over the safety of vaccines probably will never end.. But, No matter what people want to believe vaccines can be dangerous even deadly..There are allergies to many things. Heck my husband is allergic to ibuprofen but, no one says anything when he doesnt take that.. Some kids are even allergic to the sun and parents dont get bashed for keeping them in the shade.. But, when i say my daughter almost died and I WILL NOT VACCINATE ANYMORE I am crazy and a ant-vax nazi!! I just dont get the conflict with pro-vax and ant-vax moms.. WE ARE ALL MOTHERS AND WANT WHAT IS BEST FOR OUR CHILDREN..Everyone has there own opinion on it but does it have to resort to name calling and hurting people? I THINK NOT! I tell moms my daughters story to let them know that it can happen.. NOT TO SAY OMG! YOU VAX YOUR CRAZY!!I just want moms to make an informed descion when they vax their children is all.. Why does an infant need the Hep b vaccine at birth? They dont! I know my infant wasnt having unprotected sex or using dirty needles! I just feel that as a mother i would have wanted someone to tell me all the information on vaccines soo i would have been able to see ALL THE RISKS, NOT JUST THAT LITTLE PAPER YOU SIGN FOR CONSENT AT THE PEDI. I can understand being gun shy.  Do you know what caused the dangerous allergic reaction in your daughter?  Do you know if those ingredients are in other vaccines? 

The only thing that caused me concern when I got my daughter vaccinated was the very small chance that she could have an allergic reaction to them.

All we were told is that it was the Hepb and Dtap vaccine. The doctors didnt give of any specifics. They just said to be safe that she should not have any more vaccines. The cdc was notified as well as vaers. She was compensated(if thats what you wan to call it) by the vaccine compensation fund.. It took 5 long yrs to see anything, which was february of 2008, she was injured in june of 2003. I always looked for fever and rash.. I never expected this.. I wish i would have done more research. We researched while she was in icu and inpatient rehab. She was in Columbus childrens which has a med school in it and spent countless hours in their library. I was so upset after i learned what was in vaccines.. I dont feel as a parent we should have to research like that.. I think the doctors should provvide all the info from jump. That is information you should be given while pregnant so you have time to think and make an informed desicion. I dont try yo push what i believe but i feel very strongly that hep b vaccines should not be given until they r older and their system can handle it. Unless the mother is a carrier what is the risk? No infant is having sex or using dirty drug needles.. Thats just my opinion.. Thanx for the comment.

What caused the allergic reaction?  And why did it take 5 years for you to get compensated (I think that's the right word =))?

They said instead of the vaccines introducing themselve to her body to create immunity they attacked her spinal cord instead. Vaccine court is a very lengthy process.. Years of specialists and letters and mri's and phone confrences. They said it was her vaccines from jump, they just wanted to see if she got anything back before they gave her anything i guess. And its not all just money like everyone thinks. Yes she will receive $500,000 for a lifetime of lost wages when she is 18 but thats it..The rest of the compensation is in the form of medical needs. Such as wheelchairs, medical beds, medical supplies, and things of that nature. But, they still have to approve it.. That is the sad part. Even if a doctor says its medically necessary a group of government board member jerk offs say yes or no.. So even though they said she won she didnt. She is confined to a wheelchair, has severe pulmonary problems and a weakened immunity. AND WHO SAYS THAT $500,000 IS ALL SHE WOULD HAVE MADE? WHAT WORKING AT MCDONALDS MAYBE! The family doesnt get compensated. So you although our life was turned upside down, i have severe depression now as well as my husband, also i herniated three discs in my back lifting her. But we get no pain and suffering nothing.. ITS NOT COMPENSATION ITS ALL A SHAM!! Im sorry, just venting because these people will be a part of our lives forever now.. Our lives will never be our own.. So the damage just keeps going..

Which vaccine was it?  Sorry for all of the questions, but your story has piqued my interest.  I don't understand which component in the vaccine would attack her spine.  I'm not suggesting that it's not possible, I'm just curious as to what happened.

I'm also sorry that your child is now in a wheelchair.  =(((  How old was she when it happened?

We were told first it was the Hepb vaccine then they said it was also the dtap. They said the didnt know if it was the hepb alone or a combination of the two. They caused a.d.e.m. and transverse myelitis and encephalitis. They said it started to destroy the sheething that covers the spinal cord and with that it cause a blockage of fluid that caused the sweeling on her brain. With all that the section of her spinal cord that was attacked was the section that controled her legs, arms and breathing muscles which is transverse myelitisShe was 10 months old when it all happened. She was trached and on life support in the beginning. They didnt think she would get any use back.. They said she would have the trach for the rest of her life.. She only had it till she was 3.. She proves the doctors wrong everyday.
