Today I made ham and green beans and mashed potatoes and rolls for Easter dinner.
I just put up an offer on Freecycle for the ham bone for someones dog if they wanted it. Here is what I wrote...
Offer in Vernon Ham Bone for Dog?
Happy Easter! I have a ham bone with some meat left on it and I think someones
doggy might want it... We used to give our dogs ham bones but now we don't have
a dog so I figured I would see if someone wanted to come by and get it. If no
one replies today I will throw it out. We are in Courtside Condos in Vernon.

I wanted to share because this made me sad and happy both at the same time. Sad for the man not having any food but happy because I can doing something about that. I put together a bag of food with large helpings of potatoes ham and green beans and rolls and even glaze. I also put the ham bone in there too. I hope he enjoys it as much as we did.
I hope everyone is having a Happy Easter. Today I am extra thankful for what I have.
You wont believe this!
The man showed up! It turns out his car needed a new catalitic converter(?sp) He lives paycheck to paycheck I guess because he said he had to use his food money for last week and this week to pay for that car part.
I ended up giving him so frozen meat and pasta roni and some soup I got buy 1 get 1 a few months back. It was all I could do for him because my hubby is not so generous I am sorry to say and I really didnt want to give him anything he would notice.
I remember what it is like to be stuck for even just until payday and wishing I had just a little help. I am glad I could help him and he seemed grateful too.

That's great. We were lucky enough that my FIL cooked their dinner over here for easter otherwise we wouldn't have been able to afford it. I just make sure the bills are paid and the baby is taken care of so food for us isn't much priority. I'm sure he is having a great easter becuase of you!
Funny how things like this just happen to come together. Hubby and i had his mom and sister, and nephews over, as well as my parents for Easter Dinner yesterday. We had a really good day considering we try our hardest to keep the 2 families separated because they cannon get along well.
on another note, not to judge the poor man cause i know there are libraries and friends, but did it cross your mind, how did he get online if he cannot afford food?
It is terrible how cynical this society has taught us to be...my first thought was that he's hungry, but has internet service?
