A British Point Of View....Why Not?

I was lying down in front of my laptop earlier. Rather bored with cafe mom at this point i decided to watch some new episodes of some programmes that are new in the USA but won't be over here for months.

Anyway, i decided to watch the new episode of Scrubs. Though i won;t go into detail of the episode. Their was one part that made me very pissed off. And, even though i do have a sense of humour ( a very good one at that) I did NOT find this funny.

I have always hated the character Elliot. She is everything i hate in a woman. She is neurotic, annoying, childish, pathetic, shallow, a control-freak and just don;t understand how anyone could encourage her behavior (yes, i am still aware that she is fiction)

Anyway, in this episode she reffered to ginger people as "gods mistakes" She said she "could smell ITS freckles" and was just her typical immature, bitch of a person self. Excpet this time with a nice BIG touch of bigotry.

Yep, you guessed it. I am ginger. I was made fun of for being ginger my entire school life. And it doesn't matter if you dye your hair. Cos its gonna grow back. The shit she said was so mean. Its exactly the same as saying black people are "gods mistakes" You know why?

Cos you can't choose your skin colour and you can't choose your hair colour.

I am so sick of Scrubs. I was already getting fed up with the racism jokes. They so lightly put in their.

I know its just a show. And i know its just a joke. But, it actually really upset me to think that maybe their are people out there who think of ginger people in this way.

Perhaps i am blowing this out of proportion. But, recently, a lot of people ahve started making fun of ginger people and its really getting under my skin. My freckled, pale white skin.

I completely understand. My husband and sons are daywalkers but my husband embraces the stereotype. People are ignorant and stupid. Did you see the thing in Toddler Buzz in Feb. about how a mom was going to dye her baby's hair if it turned out to be red? Now that is wrong.

Wow, I just don't get it. I embraced the stereotype for quite some  time. But, then it just got too much. Kids are constantly being bullied for it. If my kid is ginger i wouldn;t have a problem with it.

I have red hair, as does my Husband.  Guess what?  We pro-created 5 kids with red hair.  I LOVE red hair!!

Now, as far as Scrubs, I hate that show.  I liked it the first few years it was on, but have out grown it.

Apr. 14, 2009 at 2:16 AM My mom was watching the show with me and yes she is red headed and freckled, I have a lot of red in my hair, but I have olive toned skin, so we did get a few laughs from it. Long story short my grandpa was one of 7. 6 had red hair one had black. Out of all the grand children my mom was the only red head. In my generation my cousin and I are the only ones with redish hair. I thought being a red head was popular. It seems as if everyone around here is dying their hair red.

I thought it was popular too. I've went red several times. One of the most popular girls in my high school had red hair, freckles, and all.

I've never understood people's dislike of "gingers". my beau is a pale skinned freckled red head and that is part of why I fell in love with him.
