I wanted to share this story with you all from my experience on Easter weekend. You are all mothers, and I want your opinion on this.

For me, I was outraged!

On Saturday, we met up with some friends, and took our little ones to the Capitol lawn for an Easter event. They had a large Easter egg hunt for the little kids. There were hundreds of families all gathered on the lawn. They had two sections taped off for the different age groups. One was for the bigger kids, and the other was for children under 4. Our kids were 2 so it was perfect! I was very excited for her to go around and grab up eggs with other children her age.

So they gave the cue for the kids to go, and everyone raced in the taped off area. As we walked quickly into the area I saw adults running around pushing families and kids grabbing up all the eggs!!! They did not have a child in hand, they were literally running around grabbing as many eggs as possible! The whole even only lasted about 20 seconds because a group of parents selfishly were running around grabbing the eggs. Our daughter luckily found 3 eggs with mommy's help. But I almost cried looking around seeing other young young children with NO EGGS! There were little 2 and 3 year olds crying and confused that they didn't get any eggs. Then I looked over to my right and this mother with a 1 year old comes racing back with her basket full of 30 or more eggs!

I was so FURIOUS!!!

It's not a competion about who gets the most eggs. It's about letting the little kids have fun and find their own eggs. I was so angry when I started walking around and seeing moms with dozens upon dozens of eggs for their 1 or 2 year olds when you know that little kid didn't do that himself.

My daughter only got 3 which was plenty. She does not need that much candy anyway. I was just happy that she picked them up on her own and got the chance to grab a few. But because of these ridiculous selfish mothers, some little kids didn't get any!

I was so angry I wanted to scream!!!

How do you all feel about this??? Don't you think it was so ridiculous?? Or am I overreacting??

So let me get this straight, it was adult against kids omg I would have been livid, easter egg hunt was for children.  It is not a competion. I agree with you 100 %, I feel so bad for the ones who did not get a egg because of the adults who thought it was fun to take from them.

Exactly!! It wasn't "supposed" to be for adults. BUt I saw adults running around trying to get the most eggs for their kids. That's not what its about.

It's for the little kids for crying outlouD! and its not about who gets the most! Geez! I was glad that we had another one with just family and Kaylie had alot of fun.

I would be angry, too!  Some parents make everything into a competition.  Little Sally has to have MORE than everyone!  Billy has to have the BEST of everything.  And those parents make sure everyone knows it.  I agree with you, the three eggs that Kaylie found with a little bit of help was plenty!  She was probably really proud of herself.  The kids of the parents you're talking about are the ones who grow up thinking that everything is going to be handed to them and throw a tantrum when they don't get their way.  UGH!  I'm mad for you!

Oh that is awful!!!  Emma is 16 months and she got a head start at the hunt we went to yesterday so that she had time to find a a few on her own and we could get a few pictures.... she did well.  But man when they released the others it was nuts.  How dare the people heading that even allow such disrespect for the little ones.  Sorry you went through that.

We went to that egg hunt a 2 years ago and that's why we STOPPED going! C'mon people- it's not like you cant go to the freekin store and buy your own candy!  Next year go to the EGGSPLOSION at the Holt high school. It is tastefully done and they have fun things for the litle kids. We have been going since we stopped the capital hunt. And best of all it is in doors, free biggby coffee, popcorn, cotton candy, bounce houses ( atleast 6 of them) etc...

I'd proclaim loud enough for everyone to hear me "SOME grown-ups never learned how to SHARE!!"

Or something equally belittling.

Sorry you had to experience that.  I'd be just as pissed
