My last chance to throw on a Girl Suit was last Thanksgiving weekend. It was our ninth wedding anniversary and we were in Sugarland visiting my husband's parents for Thanksgiving. My husband suggested that "we go for a nice drive, maybe get a drink" which is code for "cruise around and listen to the radio and find a nice dark parking lot to snog in". My in-laws began squealing "OH, we know this divine pub, let us take you out!"
Sigh. Oh well, no naughty nookie, but free drinkies, that's still pretty cool.
My husband's wardrobe consists of three pairs of pants and seven shirts, so it was a matter of choosing the ones with the fewest holes and/or stains and he was ready in 15 seconds. Even though I'm pretty low-maintenance, I still have things like a ton of hair and some skin to futz with so it took me a little longer to get ready. I got the hair all brushed up and ponytailed, applied some minimal mineral makeup and hauled out The Big Guns--My tuxedo pants with the satin stripes up the sides and the Tory Burch beaded silk chiffon blouse I got on eBay for a mere pittance. Like a million bucks did I look, I clean up nicely! Also, I got to see my in-laws get drunk, which is a priceless experience because my mother-in-law's affected Scottish accent becomes more pronounced and my father-in-law's true Scottish accent becomes so heavy nobody outside of Glasgow can understand him, and they both get handsy with one another when tipsy. So, instead of my husband and I groping one another, we got to watch his parents grope one another!
Oh, and I had french fries. French fries solve so many problems, especially when chased with raspberry vodka.
Comments:
I'm having a blast with the image of his folks acting like a couple of drunk Scottish teenagers.
As for you...we already knew you were hot. It's why you can pull of naked so easily. In fact, darn shame you had to wear anything at all.
