I am a resident of Tracy and I just have to tell you how proud of my city I am.  Today is the funeral for this sweet precious little girl who's life was taken from us.  Yesterday her family, friends, classmates, andTracy police said goodbye to her in a private ceremony.  It was beautiful; a horse drawn carriage carried her casket to Tracy Masoleum and then there was a private reception.  Her funeral and her burial was donated by citizens and businesses in Tracy.

Today's public ceremony is being held in West High School's gym and is being aired live as I type this.  The line to get in is more than a mile long.  The overflow will be filling the cafeteria as well as the football stadium.  This service was also put on by the citizens and the city of Tracy.  City workers set up the gym, cafeteria and parking.  The school district enabled the gym and the school to be used for this ceremony.  This little girl has touched this town.  Her family has touched this town.

A motorcycle club accepted donations for her family, what a site to see these burly motorcycle men crying and praying for this sweet girl that they did not even know.

Posters had been hung on every light pole, on every mailbox and in every window.  Cards, stuffed animals, candles and flowers became a sea of love, hurt and shock that overflowed her home!  I have never experienced such sadness in a community.  I could not go anywhere in the past 3 weeks without hearing her name or seeing her picture.  This town has been through a horrible tragedy and now we need to heal and be there for her family who are members of our community.

I could write more on the crime, the suspect, and the charges but today is not the day for that, today is the day to pay a tribute to innocence!

Hold your children close today and just love them.

How did I miss this post??  I think maybe I have been shying away from your page for a bit because of this situation.  This brought tears to my eyes just from your description of the event.  You should be very proud to say that you live in Tracy, CA!!
