Yes, actually that is true. My husband and I have 2 side business's that we do. One is the sweet smelling, beautiful warmers that I sell ( or I should say he sells with me), because he made 4 sales for me this last week.
The second one is the other one that keeps us busy. We have been buying auctioneed storage units for about 5 or so years now. In years past we would just have a huge yard sale, make a couple of thousand dollars and be done with it. Well, about 6 months ago we found a new flea market that opened, very nice, up and coming and so we rented a "booth". Great traffice area, really nice and our neighbor vendors have became close "weekend" friends now. We all look out for each other and take care of each others places.
Well, we went back through the "auction circuit" about 3 months ago and every Tom, Joe and Henrietta was there right out of "How to get rich buying auctioned storage units"! Needless to say that was the last one we decided to attend. You cannot make any money when you have someone so excited to get an "empty" box of unknown items at an outrageous bid because you and the other jokers didn't know when to stop! So, you can have it and I hope your all happy. Which some will be and some will drop out over the "work" involved after you pay for your treasure!
So, our booth is down to knick knacks. Not much in "good stuff" except for a few items. My husband of 30 years and I just recently decided to just sell off what we have up there and donate the rest so we can back off some and take a bit of a rest. We have a large place here in the country and with spring now coming in it will require all the yard work plus all the other projects we have had to put off over the last couple of years.
But, what do you do when your offered FREE units? Turn them down, walk away and give it to someone else.
I don't think so.
So, we are back for one last stand with a phone call to come and get 7 units. ( No, I will not give away all my secrets as to how we obtained 7 free units). Plus there may be more in another city by next month. Eye,,yi,, yi,!
So, why do we work around Spiders & Mice.
Have you ever left your things in a storage unit for months to years? Have you ever done it "in the country"?
We have unloaded 3 units last night that we packed into our cattle trailer on Sunday. This actually required us to go back for a second run.
Nasty, nasty work when you have to make sure you have on long sleeves, long pants and gloves! A few years of doing this and you learn.
Funny thing is, when I was a child of "32" or so I was defiantly afraid of these small creatures and I am not saying the fear has totally disappeared it is just in a different perspective. The best one I can place is, most of the mice are already dead and depending on what time of year it is ( like now, spring) all the spiders are ALIVE!
Plus out of all the years I have been married I can honestly say that, Yes my husband has hit me! He is kind enough to come up and get a spider off of me that he sees before I do!
Well, for the time being we are still in business. Not the one we were looking for but as I see it, there is something in here or GOD would not of put this in front of us at this time. We were probably going to be done with it by next month and out of the blue these come up as a "give me". So, more spiders to contend with, more cobwebs and dirt and trash we have to haul away. More dead mice than I ever want to see for the rest of my life. But, wait what was in those boxes that I went through last night..............A black jewelry bag........containing a heavy gold necklace.....and then the other ring cases I found.......containing......what.....a...gold and diamond heart pendant necklace.......and.....that beautiful antique ring with a brilliant midnight blue sapphire stone........and......3 boxes......full......of.......baseball cards.......old.....baseball cards......oh my!
And the digging has just begun!
And so, if anyone else is interested in becoming a Spider & Mice worker, let me know! LOL!!
