There Goes The Neighborhood Part 1

Penelope apparated to her new home on Minx Way. With in seconds Blaise appeared beside her.

"It's quaint." he said.

Penelope smiled. It didn't have the grandure that either Blaise or Neville's estate had.

"I like it," she said. It was attractive with plenty of room. Unlike the other homes, this one was her own.

“What’s with that?” Blaise asked looking down the street.

Penelope looked over. Renesmee was standing outside of her home with her parents who were both vampires, Edward and Bella Cullan.

“Yeah, leeches sparkle,” Penelope said with a chuckle looking at the sun casting rainbows off of their skin.

“Manly,” he replied. “Forget Minx way,” Blaise said with distaste, “this should be called Dirty Blood Way.”

“No good Death Eater alive would step foot here." Penelope challanged him. "But here you are.”

Blaise took the challange and smiled, "No Dark Mark.” He said showing is unmarked left arm.

Penelope laughed looking again over at the Cullen’s with Renesmee sparkling the in sunlight. “Yeah, but they’re good enough people. They just stink to high heaven. Can you smell that?”

He shook his head and shrugged.

“I’ll get used to it.” Penelope said looking back to her house. It didn't have much of a yard, but she could do some nice things with the lawn.

“So how do you all know them?” Blaise asked intrigued by the glittering vampires.

“We have a working relationship." Penelope explained speaking of her pack. "But it’s a really long story. I mean, it could fill a book.”

Just then Jacob came out of his house calling out to her, “Hey, neighbor. Guess who came to welcome you to the neighborhood.”

Penelope grabbed onto Blaise to keep from falling over. With loud greetings, almost the entire La Push Wolf pack poured out of the opened door.

Quickly she was enveloped in the crowd of hugs and greetings. Collin, Brady, and Seth where there, suprisingly men where last time she saw them they were gawky teenage boys. When she hugged her cousin Seth, she had to tickle the goate he was proudly growing on his chin. Quil and Jared where there, both same as always. Embry was more quite, she noticed, but she hugged him as well. Paul was mouthing off as usual. Sam - she was so happy to see Sam. He always was like the big brother she never had. She stayed extra long in his hug, hoping for time to sit and talk to him soon.

"Where's Leah?" she asked her face falling. Seeing her cousin would be just what she needed now.

"She couldn't come. The baby is sick." Quil explained.

"Yeah, and Kaleb's doing construction work in Forks." Seth added.

Penelop couldn't hide her disappointment. As a Mother and used-to-be-wife, she understood Leah having to be there for her own.

“Hey, this is the guy?” Brady said turning to Blaise.

"This is Blaise Zabini," Jacob introduced him.

It was Blaise's turn to be surrounded by the pack. Penelope bit her lip as the pack assessed him. Blaise wasn't sure what to think. None of them seemed threateneing. He was glad he was talll. Standing next to this lot, he held his own where Neville must have looked like child. He tried to keep up the best he could as one person talked over another at him. One thing he didn't understand was how they all talked about him like they knew him. It must be the mental connection they all had, he figured. If they hunted together today, they were able to pull Peneope's thoughts from Jacob's mind.

Behind the group there was a loud crack. Everyone jumped except Penelope, Blaise, and Jacob - who laughed.

"You almost transformed," Jacob said laughing at Paul how looked most taken off guard by the loud pop.

"It's the movers, gah." Penelope said. "Relax."

But she knew why they were wound up. They were on guard for the same reason they were here - because of the uncertainty with her health and the mounting threat facing them from wood. She was more than greatful for their help.

“I hate when ya’ll sorcerors do that.” Paul said straiting his clothes and calming down.

"Well this is a Wizarding village, so get used to it." Penelope said to him.

"So you want us to help move things?" Jared asked.

“I think they’ve got it." Penelope said over her shoulders while she went to go direct the movers where to put things. "Unless you want to do physical labor carrying heavy items up and down stairs while we sit using wands to get everything in place.”

"Sounds like they got it under control," Quil said releaved.

When Penelope came back out an hour later, she just shook her head at what she saw. Just like they were back at the beach in La Push, everyone was sitting around, kicked back, just hanging out. Blaise had conjured up chairs. He was sitting in the middle of them, sharing butterbeers he also conjured, with the group.

Penelope walked to stand behind Seth putting her hands on his shoulders listening. They were making fun of Blaise's accent and the way he talked, just like they had Neville when they first met him. Unlike Neville, who became unsure and upset, Blaise was no holds barred firing back with his own jokes about them. But he did it in the same good natured spirt. Blaise kept coming back as they joked about him not only being British, but being black, and being a Wizard.

When Penelope had rejoined the group after dusk, Blaise was sitting on the front lawn with all the men telling stories of his own like he was part of the pack. She had never seen Blaise like that. His shirt was loosened. He was relaxed back in the chair with his legs kicked out laughing. This time she leaned against Sam's chair, smiling when he put his arm around her.

"Keep you chin up." he said quielty to her. Tears almost breeched the levees she was holding, so she just nodded.

"So now that you all are here," Blaise said to the group. "That means Peni won't be patrolling alone anymore, right? I worry about her out there by herself with what ever is gathering there.”

“Peni?" Quil asked. Turning his head to Jacob sitting beside him he asked, "I don’t know Jake, is she going to stop patrolling alone?”

Blasie looked up at Penelope expecting her argue like she always did with him when he brought it up.

Jake said, “Naw… only if she no longer needs to. She knows what she is doing. She can take care of herself.”

Blaise obviously disagreed, "How come it’s up to you?"

“He’s my pack leader.” Penelope explained. “When we‘re together, we’re under authority of our pack leader. What he says goes. Jake is Seth, Embry, and my leader. Sam leads the rest of the pack.”

"Why are there two packs?" Blaise asked.

“Long story.” Penelope said.

“Another book?” he asked back.

“Basically.” She responded.

"Ma'am. Can I get your signature quick before we wrap things up." A portly mover called to Penelope.

Blasie watched as she walked inside.
