Happy Earth Day!  I'm sure we all recycle, try to reduce and reuse.  I found the following activity online, did it with the kids last night, and thought others might find it a really good recycling / Earth Day activity for little kids.
We recycled crayons...you know, the junky ones that get worn down or broken??  We peeled the paper off, and heated the oven to 200 degrees.  We broke up the crayons in as little pieces as possible.  You can do a few things here....we had an inordinate amount of broken pencils, so some we separated out by color, but for a decoration, we put blue and green together.  Put the broken up crayons into the bottom of a muffin tin, and into the oven for 5-10 minutes....you jsut kind of have to watch them.  Let cool...the blue and green ones look like little earths!!  Once they cool, they are round crayons for use again!!!
Enjoy!
