I feel like the prodigal mom!

Being a serious artist/illustrator is a lot of work. It's great to be busy, but I do miss chatting, visiting and supporting fellow moms! I finally have a faster computer, so no more constant reboots, lost notes and posts. It was pretty bad. I can't even begin to describe. --Atrocious! Dial-up on Windows 98. {{Who has that?!?!}} In any case, once I load photo software, new photos--finally-will be posted. My page is sooo outdated.

I've been busy with mostly the artist business aspect lately, but am entering shows, teaching a few art classes at a local grade school (it's a blast!), squeezing in art time, some cool projects, being a full time mom, still unpacking+, somehow simultaneously.

Latest greatest: I was recently juried/voted into the N.A.W.A., the National Association of Women Artists. Membership is around 800+, so to get an idea of #'s, that would be roughly 16 members per state, but I do not have current #'s. Florida has it's own chapter, and I have no clue what other Wisconsinites are in the group, much less in the Midwest. If you know of any members out there, please drop me a note! I don't know the full roster of members, but past members have included artists Mary Cassatt and Isabel Bishop. I will be formally inducted this fall at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. Getting there..well, I'm dreaming. Options are currently limited, but I'd love to be there. Hope springs eternal, right?

I'm attempting to meet friends at the final opening/showing of The Sketchbook Project. My playing card series sketchbook has been touring museums and galleries since Feb. as part of the project. Here's the skinny:

FINAL OPENING:

Friday, May 8th!
(Still waiting for an opening time)

CHICAGO ART SOURCE
1871 N CLYBOURN AVE • CHICAGO • 773.248.3100
http://www.chicagoartsource.com/

Flip through myriad sketchbooks. Chat. Gnosh. Request the cool playing card sketchbook (mine), haha!

Show will run May 1-June 20 at Chicago Art Source Gallery

Am seeking the CNN show interview link from the MODA, Atlanta show--will post if I find it.

I post blips on my website
www.sarahhorvat.com if I ever seem far away or MIA. Otherwise, I hope I haven't become a faded memory.

Hugs to All, Sarah
