Today was a beautiful day where I live, it was a very warm 87 degrees, a nice breeze was blowing. Perfect weather for the trip to Buffalo to pick my oldest son up from college and bring him home for the night. The warmer weather, of course, brought out the bikers in multitudes. After a long cold winter and a dreary, rainy spring, they all seemed to be out enjoying "perfect" biking conditions.
On the way home, just out of curiosity I counted 98 bikes. and I saw jsut as many, if not more on the way up. They came down the road, wind blowing through their hair (or lack thereof) with giant smiles on their faces. Then it almost happened. A careless driver, almost broadsided a biker because they were not paying attention to the road and talking on the cell phone instead. My breath caught in my throat and my heart pounded so hard I thought it was going to leap out of my chest.
Please, with the coming of the nicer weather, be more aware of your surroundings while driving. If the person driving that car had reacted just a fraction of a second later it would have ended in tragedy. Hang up your damn cell phone or pull over, no phone call is worth someone else's life! The driver of the motorcycle was so shook up he actually had to pull to the side of the road to compose himself.
Also, just because a motercycle is smaller than your car, does not mean that you own the road, they have every much a right to be out there as you do.
OK I am done ranting now lol
