Hey everyone. I am so upset this morning. I have not had any sleep yet either. My son has a almost 1 year old puppy. He has been getting loose and i told my husband to keep him in the house and he didn't. Well we got home from the in laws and the dog was loose and was acting weird. I think he got hit by a vehicle. He has abrasions and lacs all over and is breathing hard and I don't think he is going to make it. How do i tell my son that his puppy got hit by a car and died. My husband feels just terrible. The dog is still a live but I don't know for how long.
Can someone help me try to figure out how to tell my son if his dog dies. I am so scared about the whole thing. Have been upset all night and into this morning.

I'm so sorry. Ditto what Lighthousemama24 said. Our kids were 12 and 8 when we had to have Willow put down and it was horrible for them.
I'm sorry. I don't know what to say except what the other women have said: Explain that accidents happen and be there for him. That's really the most important thing: Let him grieve and be there for him. Perhaps if the dog dies, a doggy funeral?
Thank you everyone. Rebel is going to be okay. Took him to the vet Monday and he told us that nothing was broken just had a lot of abrasions and a swollen left hind leg. He still is not his self yet but he is getting better every day.
