First Communion

 Today was a very special day at church. The second graders in our parish celebrated their First Holy Communion. I do not have a child celebrating this sacrament just yet. My son will celebrate next year.

It was so nice! Our priest took time and told each one of them how beautiful or handsome they looked. He asked each one to tell who bought the wonderful new clothes they were wearing. His entire sermon was straight to them. He walked along the pews where they sat, making eye contact with them as he talked. He told about the beautiful sacrament they were about to receive. It was if he didn't even notice we were there. Today was about these lucky children as they were about to receive the Body and Blood of Christ. It was like a teacher giving one of the most beautiful lessons, and we had the privilege to listen in. He reminded them to pray for themselves, for their family and friends and for him ( he laughed and said "please pray for your priest too please")

It was a beautiful day and a beautiful ceremony!

What a great priest you have at the church you attend....I am thrilled that he focused on each and everyone of those children as he spoke..

My daughter loved it when she made her First Holy Communion, they took a picture of the whole group on the stage of the church...She treasures that picture, as she should : )
