On The Inside

"Knock, Knock."

Penelope's eyes opened slowly hearing a knock on the bedroom door. Blaise was already awake looking at Brady standing in the opened door.

"What's going on?" he said with gravel from sleep in his voice.

Penelope rolled off where she had been sleeping on Bliase's chest to look at the doorway. He pulled the sheet up over her to cover her naked form.

"Peni, we need you." Brady said. The tone in his if voice frightened Peni.

"What's wrong? What happened?" Penelope stood up slipping on her robe. Though she did try to be modest as much as she could, there was no sense of privacy when you run with the wolves. Eventually Blaise would understand.

"We found it. The leech has been giving us information..." Brady said. .

"Edward?" She asked.

"Yeah... from reading thoughts. But he can only read so far. We need someone on the inside."

On the inside. The blood in her veins turned cold. Turning to look at Blaise, the worry was evident in his eyes. This was one of the dangers of being with her. He had said he was strong enough to handle it. She leaned across the bed to give him a kiss, holding onto his strong jaw, trying to sooth him saying "I love you. I will be back. Okay. I promise. Stay with the kids. I will be back."

Truth was, she was scared too.

Penelope ran out the door wasting no time to transformed to get into the Pack's head.

"How fast do you need be there?" She asked with her mind.

"Can you do that disappear thing you do to come here now?" Jacob asked.

"Will they be able to hear me?" Penelope asked. Apparating wasn't a quite activity.

"They're arguing now, so it's a good time. They won't be able to hear anything." Edward said inside of her Pack concienciousness. It stopped her dead in her tracks to hear him there.

"Where do I need to apperate to?" Penelope asked.

"I'll show you," Nessie said.

The images that flashed answered her question. Edward and Jacob in his brown wolf form, were being linked by Nessie. From behind, Bella had her arm around her daughters neck. They were using each other to all tie into the Pack consciousness through Jacob so no one audibly spoke.

Penelope changed back to human form to apparate in a split second onto a plateau on the top of a mountain she saw from Nessie's images. In another split second she was back in wolf form reconnecting mentally to the pack.

Edward put his finger to his lips pointing down the drop from the Plateau, down the side of the mountain. In her mind she received a picture of a Cliff wedged between the mountains over the side where Edward was pointing. There was the glow of a fire from a cave tucked inside the rock.

At once they begin filling her in on the events that transpired since they first saw the intruders at the Quidditch Pitch. Edward read their muderious thoughts. After she had returned home, Edward joined Sam's pack to track the Vampire. It lead them to the hideout. There was dis-chord within the groups. Something had happened that sat off quite an argument. Some were unhappy that the two let themselves be seen. Others thought it was time they had the right idea, and they should all make themselves seen. It was a mass of confusion - they could use this.

"They're planning to attack the Wizarding Village," Jacob said. "They are planning it for the next full moon."

"For the Werewolf's," Penelope said.

"That's what it seems." Edward said.

Jacob, Nessie, and Penelope shared fear remembering the nightmare of what the last full moon was like for her.

"We don't plan to wait that long," Sam said. Losing Penelope in action wasn't a viable option.

"What are Death Eaters?" Bella asked.

"What was the war they keep referring too?" Edward added.

Penelope sent Edward all of her information about the last Wizarding War that ended with The Battle of Hogwarts, and the roll the Death Eater's played.

"They're bitter over it." Edward said. "They lost everything and want reparations made. They're starving and desperate. Attacking the survivor of the war who have built successful lives, seems to be their way to get what they feel they deserve. They have nothing to lose, which makes them incredible dangerous. They've hired vampire mercenaries promising them spoil for their help."

"We need to know what's down there, Peni." Jacob said.

"How many of each kind would help us know what to expect." Edward added.

Penelope's heart race as her friends and families faces flashed in her mind.

"They're all at steak, Peni. We need you to go in so we can figure out if there is anything we can do to protect them, and ourselves." Jacob said.

"They're going to smell me. How will the Vampire's not smell my wolf scent." Penelope asked.

"You don't smell like them." Edward laughed. "You smell very different. Like..."

Bella answered with a look of apology on her face, "Body odor."

"Great," Penelope said wondering what that meant.

"Maybe it's because of you magic ability, but you are different." Edward added. "These men have been living in a cave for awhile. you scent will blend in."

Though it was the least of her worries, she still had to fight being offended that she smell like body odor.

"It's actually a good thing, Peni." Bella said. "No vampire will come close to finding you appetizing."

Penelope looked over the edge of the plateau. not being a Vampire appetizer was a nice thought, but it didn't comfort her now. The mountainside was a strait drop with jagged rocks below.

"You can do this Peni, "she heard Sam say.

"My shield should still protect you though Jacob," Bella added.

In her head she agreed to the plan.

"I can't get down there like this." She said. the images she received sent panic through her. In wolf form she couldn't make it down the sheer drop, nor could she navigate around the inside of the cliff. She'd be too big and clumsy. If she did this, she would have to be in human form which meant she would be on her own. There would be no voices to comforter or give her advice. If she had known this, she would have said a better goodbye to Blaise and at least kiss her boys goodbye.

"You have to focus," Sam said. "They are the reason we're all here."

Penelope's heart pumped hard as she saw Nessie's hand nestle deeper in Jacob's fur. He was almost whining sharing her fear and the image of their little son. All Nessie could do was comfort her husband, knowing he was closer to Penelope than he was his own sister.

"Clear your mind," Edward said. "Take it one step at a time. Don't over think. Don't let yourself get distracted. We need to know the numbers and any other information you overhear. Anything you can see will help"

"If something happens....." Penelope began seeing the faces of her sons and her new husband whom she had so little time with already.

"Don't say that. You can tell them when you get home." Jacob barked in her mind. "We'll see you in a minute. Send of some of those wand sparks if something happens. We'll come."

If it was that simple, she wouldn't be the only one going down. But she appreciated the support none-the-less.
