First off I must apologize to those of you who have been waiting for me to write, as you can imagine life with three as now become very busy for me. Also the lack of sleep and family and friend visits as also taken up some time! :)

On Tuesday, April 21st I woke up feeling bad, probably the worst I had in a while, I didn't want to do anything! I decided to meet a friend for b'fast at Mcd's to let Brandon and her son play after I dropped Collin off at school, Before I left for school I lost a blood clot and wondered if that was my day! We went on to Mcd's and I could barely sit there, I decided to leave because I was so uncomfortable. we came home and I lost another blood clot, so I was hoping that was my good news that something would soon happen!

When I went to pick up Collin from school a friend in the car pool line asked if we would like to come play at her house, our boys are great friends! I told her that I just didn't feel well and didn't think it was a good time, she suggested I come to her house and lay down and she would watch the boys playing...that I jumped on! :) So about 3pm at her house I started having random contractions, they were spaced as far as 30 minutes but growing more painful each contraction. I still thought they were not real. After several hours of contracting they began to get closer together. I stayed at her house until after 6pm and she kept up with my sporatic contractions telling me she just knew it would be that day!  I came home and by 7pm my still sporatic contraction were growing more and more painful and I cooked dinner doubled over. I decided to clean my house "Just in case" I walked around in tears with each contraction, finally I told Dana that if they would just be consistent in time I would know to call the hospital. Finally at 8pm they were coming exactly 5 minutes apart, I called the hospital and told her I had only had 4 consistent in time but I was doubled over in pain. She told me to come and she would check, I told her I was going to be upset if it wasn't real because of the drive (the hospital is 30 minutes away) and because we would have to take the boys to the sitter.

We finally headed to the hospital 30 minutes later after getting the boys settled and my contractions were growing more and more painful, I tried not to cry through each of them! When I got to the hospital Dana dropped me off and this guy rushed out with a wheel chair and rushed me in! It was all I could do to breathe through them and they were about every 3 minutes! When I got upstairs they checked in triage and told me I was dilated 8cm! I was SHOCKED! I could not believe I had progressed that far! The Midwife on call (Precious!) told me that if she didn't get me to a room fast I would not get an epidural! They rushed me to a room and a few minutes later they rushed in with my epidural, they told me that I would have to have a spinal block because they did not have to time to give me a drip, It hurt so bad!! Just as soon as the epidural was in place they had me up and pushing! I was 9.5 cm when I got to the room! I pushed 3 times and out she came! :) I actually felt most of it because the epidural only had time to take off the "edge" I'm very thankful for it though because there is no way I could have done that with out it!

Madelyn was 5lbs 15.5 oz and 18.5 inches long! She is SO tiny! We are all so excited about her being here and have welcomed her with open arms! :) Welcome to the Family Maddie! :)

Wow. Way to go Shelley! You did such a great job handling all those contractions (and cooking and cleaning during it all, lol). I'm so very happy for you and Dana. Give Maddie big love from me!
