He laid down His life for us. We should also lay down our lives for our brothers. -1John 3:16

Today I was supposed to sacrafice something that  I wanted to meet a need of my husbands..big or small.

We recently got our tax return back and I have been working a lot of hours lately. We decided to landscape our backyard with 1/2 of the money and save the other 1/2. I really wanted to buy an area rug and curtains for our dining room.

I read this chapter and thought about what my husband might need. I was surprised that I didn't immediately know what his needs were. As I began to think about it I realized that he had been talking about having no tools for landscaping or concrete. He was going to have to see if he could borrow some. I know that he hates borrowing people's tools and gets frustrated when he doesn't have what he needs to complete a project. So I called him from work and I told him to take some money and go to the hardware store and buy whatever tools he needed to complete the backyard. I know he was excited to be able to buy his own tools for the yard and grateful that he wasn't going to have to borrow anyone else's tools..

I decided that I could put in a few more hours or save a little longer and buy the area rug and the curtains that I want at a later time. He really did need those tools for the backyard and the rug and curtains were just a want not a need and it felt good to postpone those things to put his needs first; especialy because he doesn't know that I did that.

That was great! I have to admit I am a more than a little curious how your DH is taking this too. Did he just say thanks and go get tools? I think mine would have to be resuscitated!!

PS...Good luck with the lawn, I hope it looks wonderful!!
