I have moved one time in my lifetime. Okay, two but moving out of my parents house really didn't count and I definitely did that one myself.
The big move we made was from Cleveland, Ohio to Columbus, Ohio in August of 2003. Part of the relocation package that my husband received at his new job was the hiring of professional movers AND packers. Oh yeah. We didn't have to pack a single thing.
A team of three men, mostly older came into our house. One had the basement, one had the first floor, and the third had the upstairs. Before the day was done, they had packed anything that stood still. I'm pretty sure at one time our son, Adam, who was 3 years old at the time, stood still too long and got packed into a box!! LOL
The next day the gigantic semi pulls onto our little street and was the talk of the neighborhood for the week. Yeah, not much went on there. Three different guys loaded it up and shipped out that afternoon.
Would I ever use professional movers again? Probably, although there were things that have been missing for 5 years. For example, while finally deciding to clean out the basement two weekends ago, my husband runs across a box that was supposed to have been put in the kitchen, but instead got put into the basement. In it was my round crockpot with removable crock, glass casserole dish, glass mixing bowls, and a variety of other kitchen gadgets. My husband, in his sarcastic manner, said "Happy Anniversary, honey!" Yeah, like he gets off THAT easy!! LOL But it was really nice to find some stuff and it actually felt a little bit like Christmas.
