When the tax season ended I decided to join AnyTime Fitness. My DH, Lee, had been going for awhile and wanted me to join also. So I joined April 15th! So far I love it!
My goal is to thin down enough to comfortably wear a size 12. Yes, I know that sounds big still but I know I will never be anything smaller than a 10. In high school I was anorexic and at my thinnest the smallest size pants that would fit my huge hips was a Junior's size 9. I looked pretty funny because my legs were very thin so the pants were tight on my hips and just hung there on my legs. So, yes, size 12 is fine. If I get to size 10, awesome! But I'm not going to get my hopes up. Right now I'm in a size 14 and well, bulging out of them. But at the same time size 16 is too big (why oh why do clothes have to come in sizes by 2's?). Last summer I fit my 14's pretty comfortably. Then my allergies went wacky and I ended up sitting the end of summer & fall inside on my butt gaining weight. Now I'm on perscription allergy medication which does work (nothing, and I mean nothing, over the counter worked) so I have no reason to sit inside. Plus with a gym membership I have no reason to not work out.
I have been going to AnyTime Fitness now for 3 weeks now 3-5 times a week. I'm hoping to get there at least 4-5 times a week. After getting aquainted with the equipment I've gotten myself a routine. Every time I go I plan to do weights on the machines excersing my arms, legs and hips. Then 20 minutes or more of cardio. I prefer the eliptical for cardio but it seems everyone else does also so when its been busy I've been using the stepping machine and bike for my cardio. I hate treadmills so I refuse to do that.
So far I don't notice much difference. But in the past when I've worked out it seems I built muscle first, then started loosing fat. I can't have a scale to watch my weight because I get obsessed with it. So I'll be watching my progress with how my clothes fit. I'm still bulging out of my 14's but my calves are more toned now. And my arms feel a bit thinner. I'm excited about my arms because I've always had such fat flabby arms. The arms of the 90 year old woman. You know, the kind that waves back when you wave your goodbye. Hopefully I can wave those flabby arms goodbye sooner than I thought! I would love to have arms like Michelle Obama, but again, I'm not going to get my hopes up.
Well, that's the end of this journal post. I hope to post more soon. Hopefully good news!

You go girl! You and I have some of the same goals. I would love to fit comfortably in my sz 12 I know I will never be a 6/8 again lol. I am working out at home and trying to walk more. Cant really afford a membership anywhere yet. I hope Partylite will get going and then I will have the extra money for stuff like that.
Good Luck and keep on pushing yourself it will get better.
