PERFECT CHILD
When she was born
She was the jewel
In her father's eye
The love
In her mother's heart
And they were whole
But now the circle is
Broken
No longer whole
And she holds together the threads
That were a family
And the perfection she embodies
Is not enough
To mend hearts cracked with bitterness
Split with anger
And drowned in self-pity
Broken glass
And shattered dreams
Litter the floor
In a house filled with regrets
And lost opportunities
And with the faith of a child
She struggles
To put together the puzzle
But all the pieces are torn
When she was born
She was the jewel
In her father's eye
The love
In her mother's heart
And they were whole
But now the circle is
Broken
No longer whole
And she holds together the threads
That were a family
And the perfection she embodies
Is not enough
To mend hearts cracked with bitterness
Split with anger
And drowned in self-pity
Broken glass
And shattered dreams
Litter the floor
In a house filled with regrets
And lost opportunities
And with the faith of a child
She struggles
To put together the puzzle
But all the pieces are torn
