in maine!!! WOOHOO! : ) vote popular ladies, get the word out!!
EDIT: Listen ladies, I didn't post this "because I knew it was a post that would cause confrontation". I posted it because I think it is something to be celebrated. Believe it or not.... marriage is something that should be cherished and celebrated and used to express your love for someone. There IS a poll asking if you approve, and that is all, I simpley asked if you approve... not if you think "gays have no morals" or "gays are wrong". I didn't ask for people to bitch about others morals or anything like that. I don't want to hear crap about you think gay people "flaunt" their families, and its not right. Blah blah blah Yadda yadda yadda. Once again... my point is.... gay marriage is legalized in Maine!!!! : )

(CNN) -- Same-sex marriage became legal in Maine on Wednesday as Gov. John Baldacci signed a bill less than an hour after the state legislature approved it.
Maine Gov. John Baldacci signed a bill Wednesday legalizing same-sex marriage.
"I have come to believe that this is a question of fairness and of equal protection under the law and that a civil union is not equal to civil marriage," said Baldacci, a Democrat.
But he raised the possibility that the residents of the state would overturn the law, saying, "Just as the Maine Constitution demands that all people are treated equally under the law, it also guarantees that the ultimate political power in the State belongs to the people."
The Human Rights Campaign, a gay and lesbian rights organization, praised Maine's new law.
"This law is simply about making sure that loving, committed couples, and their families, receive equal rights and responsibilities. This is a step that will strengthen Maine families," Human Rights Campaign President Joe Solmonese said in a statement.
New Hampshire lawmakers were discussing a similar bill Wednesday, but it was not clear whether the House would reach a decision. There was a move to refer the bill back to committee, which would delay a vote.
New Hampshire Gov. John Lynch said last week that he did not think the law is necessary, because the state recognizes civil unions.
Three other states -- Massachusetts, Connecticut and Iowa -- currently allow same-sex marriages. Vermont has passed a law making gay and lesbian marriages legal that takes effect in September.

Iowa's Supreme Court ruled unanimously April 3 that it is illegal to discriminate against same-sex couples by denying them the right to marry. The first gay marriages in the state took place April 27.
California's state Supreme Court issued a similar ruling in May 2008, and 18,000 gay and lesbian couples got married in the Golden State. But in November, California voters approved Proposition 8, which amended the state constitution to ban gay marriage.
The state's high court heard arguments this year about whether Proposition 8 was itself constitutional. It has not issued a verdict.
New York Gov. David Paterson introduced legislation in April to make same-sex marriage legal in his state. A similar bill died in the state Senate in 2007.
On Tuesday, the Washington City Council voted to recognize same-sex marriages from states that allow those unions. Mayor Adrian Fenty has indicated that he will sign the measure. It will become law if Congress fails to overturn the measure during a 30-day review period.
A slim majority of Americans are against legal recognition for same-sex marriage, CNN polling found last month.
Fifty-four percent of adults questioned in an April 23-26 nationwide CNN/Opinion Research Corp. poll said that marriages between gay or lesbian couples should not be recognized as valid, while 44 percent said they should be considered legal.
But there was a huge gap between the opinions of younger and older people, with younger people far more likely to approve of gay marriage.

Wonderful! Let's hope more states follow suit until there will be equality in ALL states!
This sucks!!! I am sorry! But I do not believe in the gay life style choice!! What they do in their bedroom is their business. But I feel that people who choose to be gay do not have the right to get married or have kids. Sorry but that is my feelings.
MEN + WOMEN =
. MARRIAGE IS BETWEEN A MAN AND A WOMAN!
I can't believe some people still think gay people CHOOSE to be gay... And really, they don't have the right to have kids? Why? Do you think they'll "turn them gay" too? Because straight people only have straight kids, right? So say there's a kid in foster care, who has the chance to be adopted by two loving people in a committed relationship... You'd rather that kid stay in foster care, just because those two loving people are of the same sex?
Wow... just wow.
no need to be sorry, it is merely only your opinion, even though others may not agree with you (including myself).. thank you for sharing your opinion... i did ask for people to share their feelings about it : ) so you were not wrong in sharing your feelings
