I am a happily married woman, yet, I'm over my husband's addiction to the next best thing. Glenn has a compulsion to buy a car, fix it up and sell it. Always for a profit. Sounds like a good thing right? It's not when you never know what car you get to keep now. Glenn has been driving for 26 years and last year he determined that he had personally owned over 60 vehicles in his life. 6 months is his average ownership time. He has owned a vehicle or two for longer. When we lived in Fort Myers, he had a Dodge Ram 1500 truck that he kept for 2 1/ 2 years. I loved that truck and we still talk about it as the one that got away.
Last year Glenn's mom gave him her Chrysler LeBaron convertible as a birthday gift. Some gift, the transmission was broke and it did not go in reverse. We moved it up to his bosses parking lot last fall and finally after a year and a few other cars, we decided to fix it. We had the car titled a grand total of 13 days. We actually had it running 5 days. That has to be a record for him. For the past several months Glenn has been addicted to Craigslist.com. Unfortunately, so is his boss. Many mornings I woke up to 20+ emails of vehicles for Glenn to look at. This man is not helping me in curbing my husband's addiction. ![]()
Finally, after selling the LeBaron, I told Glenn if he really wanted a motorcycle he could get one...provided he could purchase the cycle, insurance, title, helmet, etc. with the money he got for selling the car. After numerous phone calls, a trip to the local dealer where I had to be the mean wife and absolutely refuse to allow him to finance a cycle, I gave in and was ready to take a few hundred out of our household budget. Fortunately, Glenn took one last peek at craigslist and found a cycle for 1/2 the cost. We zipped over to Monroeville and purchased it. The seller told us it had a new battery and 3/4 of a tank of gas. We headed home, a 24 mile trip to Bridgeville, and just short of reaching Grant Street on I-376 the darn thing ran out of gas and in the process my dear darling hubby ran the battery down. An hour long trip through downtown Pgh trying to find a gas station with a gas can and we were on our way. By downtown I mean Mount Washington, Station Square, downtown and the North Shore. To make matters worse we missed watching the Penguins vs. Capitals game. But we heard it, and it was another sore point of our evening as the Caps kicked booty on the Pens. Now we have a full tank of gas and a dead battery. Head home, get the jumper cables and finally 3 1/2 hours after leaving Monroeville, we arrive home and put the little one to bed.
Lucky me since he saved so much money, I got a new digital camera out of the deal for Mother's Day!

Maybe they were split at birth. What's even more aggravating is that once he has it, he spends the next few days to weeks working to make it better and I never see him.
Yep I must say they are related...H\Mine goes in his cave and "disappers" for weeks . I have to send my boy out there to check on him. But what do you do..it it a male thing

Hey, I am just wondering if my husband and your husband is related to each other. My husband has bought and sold cars more then I can count sents I have been with him. I know how you are feeling and it is so nerve wreaking. I hate it everytime he gets a car and no sooner we get it....he has to sell it. I have tried everything to make him stop but he hasn't. All, I can do is breath deep and sigh.
