Has Anyone tried to Rent a House on Craigs List????

Holy crap!!  Every f-in house that I find that I would love to live in, I enquie about and the people are OUT OF THE COUNTRY!!! I don't know what to do!!  I've checked a lot of the web sites that help rent out places, and they always come up with 'no results found'.  I'm at a loss... We're in a crappy situation as is -- our house is going into forclosure... We bought the house before we had kids, and three little suprises later, we can't afford this place anymore. 

We have to be able to rent a house since we have 2 dogs and a cat... so apartments are not an option...

I don't know where else to look... Any suggestions?  Have any of you rented from someone 'out of the country' -- did it go over well or is it just another f-in scam???

We are military, and when my husband was stationed in Monterey CA we rented two different houses which I found for rent on Craigs List. Check the local paper as well.

I would be leary of living in a house that wasn't being managed locally.

All the rentals, we've rented, are from craiglist..Anything, where the landlord is out of the country, is a SCAM! Do not send any money or give them any information..only local legitamate companies or people. Watch out, Craigslist is awesome but full of scammers!
