The course we are doing in bible school is on the Song of Solomon. So what I am doing my essay on is worship. Help me out here put some things in my head. Worship is so much easier to do than talk about. So I'm open to your thoughts on worship.
What is worship to you?
How do you worship?
Comments:
Many times I worship through song. I can't sing very well myself but I love, love, love praise and contemporary Christian music. It speaks to my soul and helps me to focus on God.
Readings scripture is another form of worship for me. I try to memorize scripture (hide it in my heart) so that I can recall it when the world is crashing in around me.
The bible also says that we should present our bodies as living sacrifices, and that this is a spiritual act of worship. I look at that as a challenge to me to commit my days that the acts I perform to the Lord as a form of worship. That means all those menial tasks and volunteer jobs I do everyday turn into a form of worship as well as an act of service. I admit this is a hard one to get in the habit of doing, but if I stop and pray for the person whose underwear I am washing or for the school as I am making PTA phone calls, it really makes the tasks seem less like tasks and more like service and I know that my efforts are blessed because I have dedicated them to God.
Worship to me is Praising God, giving thanks, showing appreciation and love. There are many ways to do that. I worship God by singing to him, listening to Christian music, spending time in the word, saying prayers of thanks during the day....etc.
