I had such a wonderful weekend. My brother and I drove up to the campus to see our kids (kids, lol!)
and to haul back all their BIG items in my truck so they can just leave on Friday with minimal stuff.
It was a fun journey up, stopping at the Ganesh statue where we gave a tangerine offering. My
brother was happy since he didn't even know it was there, even in the 2 years traveling back and
forth for his daughter in college.
We laughed a lot on the drive and listened to some great music.
Once there and after getting the kids, we went down town where there was a Farmers Market and
Tommy bought me several dill plants for my garden (early mothers day gift), then we had bagels and
home made tomato vegetable soup at Los Bagels. It was delicious!
We decided to take a hike on campus where we ate deer grass (those huge clovers that grow wild in
the groves of the redwood forests). It tasted like lemon!!
We flew a kite under a gorgeous blue sky on Moonstone Beach, went into a cave of wonders where
the sand was like that magic sand we knew as kids. We walked along the shore and enjoyed the sun
on our faces.
We rested in the hotel afterwards with a snack of pumpkin ginger muffins and tasted some wild
mountain honey my brother bought at the farmers market.
We all decided to go out for sushi in my favorite spot in town. I enjoyed 2 Buddha hand rolls
(blanched veggies w/tofu and almond butter) and then had a most delicious
tempura yam roll.
My new favorite roll! You don't have be a carnivore or fish eater to enjoy sushi!
Afterwards I had the "ice cream of the moment" at the local parlor. It tasted like a lemon
poppyseed muffin and at times like the batter for the muffins! It was sooo tasty, I wanted more!
My brother and niece played guitar and sang for us at the hotel, then the night ended with a long
gaze at the full moon.
I was a little melancholy on Sunday morning but was quickly cheered up to a cute hand made card
from my son. Even in college they can write the cutest things!! I enjoyed having Mothers Day
breakfast with him in the cafeteria and then enjoyed a long sincere hug before my brother and I
left for home with a truck full of dorm life.
Leaving this time was not nearly as bittersweet as usual. I am proud of my son for making it through
his first year away at college and happy that he's grown into such a funny and humble human being.
As I enjoyed a BIG Reeses Peanut Butter cup while gazing at the view across the Golden Gate Bridge
I realized how lucky I am. My life isn't perfect but parts of it are certainly magical.
Once home I was treated to cards and gifts from my other kids and lots of hugs
and kisses too. I felt truly blessed and happy.
Just 5 days left of college and a nice long summer with a full house again. I am sooo looking forward to beach days, family dinners, movie night, Blackout Sabbath, upcoming concerts, life in general ~
Here are some highlight pics from my weekend..

Sounds wonderful! I would love to see the Redwoods one day and to try the deer grass there too. I'm not sure we have that here. You have such a wonderful family Maria and you got the mothers day you well deserve :)
