MSG, ever heard of it? Some say it is good for you but unfortunately it is another one of those in moderation things. MSG is in EVERYTHING. Chips, soups, KFC is slathered with it, and so forth. There is no such thing in America as moderation unfortunately.
Some of us may be allergic to it without knowing it. If you have unexplained headaches, migraines, or even nausea... tada MSG.
MSG has high amounts of Sodium in it and sodium is not our friend when trying to lose weight. Sodium causes water weight which is why we are so fluffy. So read the label, cut out or lower your MSG intake. That will help you with the rest of your water weight.
Ok on to the second thing... how many times do you eat a day?
Experts say we should be eating three times a day. Once during the day, once during lunch, and once during the night. But here is the thing...we have it backwards. You are suppose to eat a big meal in the morning and smaller meal at night. That way in the morning you have more time to digest it all and give you the energy you need. During the night we are suppose to be winding down so our stomach doesn't feel like digesting all that crap you just ate.
Also that is why we are so tired during the day after eating cereal.
If you don't want to eat huge meals and are like me where you are sick if you eat too much in the morning. Do what I call the diabetic diet.
Eat every two hours with small portions of whatever you want. This gives me more energy and my body flushes so much excessive water weight it isn't funny.
Hope that helps some.
Comments:
LOL I know what you mean. I am researching like crazy on what is the best way of losing weight. And it is so simple. The hard part is changing our way of life.
For some of us it is as simple as eating six times a day in small amounts, cutting out or lowering sodium intake, cut out stuff like soda's, and even walking.
I know what I have to do but I am so unorganized it isn't funny. The only motivation I have is I want a PhD in holistic Nutrition. I am not a fan of diet pills or trendy diets. So I need to lose weight because people do not want to listen to a large woman tell them how to become skinny.
High fructose corn syrup is in practically everything, too. Fine if used in moderation, so they say. Mm Hm...and exactly how does one use anything in moderation when it's everywhere you look??
The MSG/sodium thing is SO hard...I have lost a lot of weight through controlling caloric intake and working out like a madwoman for the last year and a half. Now I am down to my last 10 pounds--YAY--and of course am having a difficult time with it. I can't cut any more calories, and if I add any more exercise to my strenuous routine, I think I will finally collapse from exhaustion. So I read an article about that last bit of weight loss and how tough it is, and the nutritionist recommended cutting out as much sodium as possible. Holy cow!!! I have been counting calories for so long, and not paying any attention to the sodium and was stunned to see how much I am intaking. I have already made some changing (cooking beans from scratch instead of buying canned, etc), but I know I still need to cut out some more. I think I'm going to turn into a raw foodist before this is all over, lol.
Kudos to you on your nutritionist goal. Fitness and nutrition is something I've gotten very much into in the last couple of years and I feel AWESOME! No pills or fad diets either!
I know what you mean. It is very hard to ignore the things we need on our shopping list. And even harder to just make it from scratch. I am finding myself healthier staying away from certain foods though. And I am growing my own veggies which helps with saving money to buy the more expensive healthy stuff.
But it can be time consuming to cook everything. LOL some days I just wish I could just skip cooking and buy something quickly. But if I want to lose those pounds I have to slap my hand and say no.

hmmm. well i am more active in the evenings. I am eating a light breakfast of oatmeal and 24 oz of water. Then a banana mid morning snack. Lunch is a small side salad and a lowfat turkey and fat free cheese on light wheat bread. Add 8 more oz of water and a diet dr. pepper. [until i can cut out the sodas altogether]
dinner is whatever i want in moderation and careful to not go over my daily limit of calories. i've cut back in carbs and sugars.
i'm learning to buy everything in less calories, lower fat, etc instead of 'regular' everything. it's a process but i am learing. i HOPE what i am doing helps me to lose this weight. i have a long way to go.
