Kindergarden Orientation!!!

 So I took my son to his kindergarden orientation and I left there almost in tears!!!   I HATED IT!  I hated the school, the way they handeled the whole orientation.  Spent 2 1/2 hours there are I still dont know where the kindergarden classrooms are!  I thought that Orientation was for that the parents nad kids could see the school meet the teachers and prinipal, see the classrooms, ect! .  The only thing I saw was the cafateria! I mean here we are in a new school, twice as big as his VPK school.  He was nervous and you could see it in his face!   About an hour into it the teachers were introduced as a whole the kids were seperated up and sent with each of the teachers!  I didn't know this teacher, Jadon had no idea who this was what was going on his little face looked terrified when he was told he had to go with her.  for the next 45 minutes I kept looking around for him, to see if I could see the teachers coming back with the kids.  All I knew was he was in the classroom and at this point I still didnt know where the classrooms were!  My son is ADHD and sever ashmatic....   I hated not know where he was and who he was with I hated the way they handeled it!  I just think they could  have handeled the whole thing!     I dont want to be an overprotective parent but they could of let us know what they were doing so I could prepare my son for what was going to happen today!

I know I went through this with my oldest 2 yrs ago. It was ridiculous. We didnt find out who her teacher was until about a week before school started. She went there for 2 yrs and we have moved since. I hope it gets easier :)

So sorry it was not a good experience for you today. Sounds like you have some valid reasons to be disappointed in how it was handled. Hope the real thing goes more smoothly.

I put in a waiver for another school hoping that it goes through!  I was soo unhappy with the school I dont even want Jadon to go there!

I think if you felt that strongly about how poorly handled the orientation was then i'd go the the pricipal and let them know. You were confused and you dont think that it was very helpful and probably more confusing than anything. Maybe next year they'll find a better way, but if they dont know that the parents or you were un happy with the orientation then they'll just do it the same. I DO NOT look forward to that day.....i cant help but feel that Im the mother and my way is better. LOL they're is nothing wrong withleting the school know. Maybe you can arrange a walk thru the school and a meeting with your childs teacher. I dont see why theywouldn't arrange something like that for you and your son.  You dont have to be mean either, just call there and tell them your thoughts, but dont be afraid to be aggressive, they'll have your baby right? LOL .

THEY DIDNT EVEN TELL US OUR CHILD TEACHER WE WILL NOT FIND THAT OUT TILL A WEEK BEFOR SCHOOL!!
