Ok, so I just read this 'popular' article about a youth outreach program going into public schools, helping children 'direct', so to say, their lives. And I'm just kinda wowed, I guess you could say, by all of the parents saying it's wrong for them to go into public schools, and from what I'm getting, because it's a CHRISTIAN outreach program... I don't push religion on anyone, and if you know me, I'm not a strict religious person. We don't make church a priortiy, we probably should, but we do attend on holidays and some other times. Anyways, my point is, I'm just wowed at all of the parents basically saying they don't want their kids exposed to any kind of religion in school. As if it were being pushed on them... I say if it's helping them stay away from sex and drugs at a young age and teaching them to better themselves as adults then what is it hurting? They're not pushing their religion on these kids, not forcing them to 'believe' what they do or anything like that. I'm shocked. Truly shocked.

I think part of my reason for this is because of the way schools were when I was in grade school. We said the National Anthem every morning as we put the flag up in our classroom and I knew of schools that allowed prayer, although we didn't, it wasn't forced upon us not to pray. One of my best friends in grade school prayed every morning and at lunch, and now if you pray on the sidewalk infront of a school or bring up the National Anthem in public, it's like they were bad things... I'm just shocked at how a Nation founded on Christianity has come to this over the years. Taking "In God We Trust" off our money, boycotting prayer in schools, and so on.

I understand if you don't want religion forced on your kids, but is it fair to punish the whole Nation? I believe this is a free country and if my daughter would want to pray at lunch time she should have every right to!

Back to my point, it just amazes me how parents reacted to that article... they're teaching kids to better themselves for adulthood, not making them pray or believe in their God. They have one night a week as a club night with music and games... I could see how it could be offensive if they were pushing religion on those kids, or being a cult, or whatever... but trying to help them make the right decisions, how is that bad??

Oh yeah, one more random thought, Obama wants to change the National Anthem becuase of the "bombs bursting in air" part and what not, saying it was made that way to mean we like war... UGH! It wasn't put that way becuase we 'like war', it was for us becoming a Nation, UNDER ONE GOD, (whether you believe in the same one or not I don't care, not trying to make it a religious debate here). It just really bugs me that they would even think of letting him change it... I'll stop there! :)

Anyways, I'm done, just something that caught me offgaurd and I didn't want to be on the 7th page of a post.. lol :)
