Rambling Thoughts...

...of the insanely happy...

This is a paper that I wrote for my science course.  The purpose of the essay was "would you inoculate your child according to CDC recommendation? why or why not?"

The Center for Disease Control, CDC, recommends that at certain ages a child should be inoculated to help prevent the spread of diseases.  These diseases are ones like mumps, measles, rubella, diphtheria, polio and even chicken pox.  There are many parents who feel that vaccinating their children is the right thing to do in order to stop the spread of these diseases, while there are a growing number of parents who feel that vaccines are unhealthy for their kids.

My stance on the use of vaccinations is that I would not have my child inoculated as per the CDC's recommendations.  The reasons why I have taken this stance are great.  The main reason is that the lists of ingredients found in the vaccines are not healthy for human bodies.  For example, if you look at the listed ingredients for the DTaP vaccine, which inoculates for diphtheria, tetanus toxoids, and acellular pertussis, you will find that it is mixed with aluminum, formaldehyde, and thimerosal which is a mercury derivative.  Many of the CDC recommended vaccines are found to have similar ingredients.  This concerns me as a parent to inject such harmful chemicals into my child.  The effects of mercury is well known, which is why mercury filled thermometers are no longer sold in stores.  But, they knowingly create vaccines that contain mercury in them.  Parents strive hard to keep harmful chemicals off of their children's bodies, such as formaldehyde found in new clothes, but many are willing (or unknowingly) injecting these straight into their child's bloodstream and vital organs.

Another issue is the possible link between autism and the MMR vaccine that makes several parents stop inoculations.  "Researchers found that 84 percent of the autistic children had antibodies against a certain type of brain tissue, indicating that the immune system was destroying brain cells. The researchers also found the brain tissue antibody to be very similar to the antibody that's formed against the MMR (measles, mumps, rubella) vaccine. Additionally, MMR antibody was found in 59 percent of the autistic children compared to 10 percent in normal children" (Foster 2009).

The MMR vaccine has also been known to cause Hodgkin's disease in some children.  A woman who's daughter had this happen to her states that "my daughter Alexis was born in October 1980.  She died in March 1998 from vaccine induced Hodgkin's disease.  She was 17 years old.  Alexis' reaction to the DTP vaccine must have been allergic...but the doctor did not recognize this reaction to the vaccine and continued to vaccine Alexis, compromising her immune system with every shot.  It was shortly after her MMR booster shot, that Alexis developed Hodgkin disease" (Spaker 2009).  This can be taken that the girl had an allergic reaction to the chemicals in the inoculation, and because the doctor did not recognize or did not acknowledge the symptoms, and continues giving the vaccines, the child was susceptible to the vaccine induced Hodgkin's disease which lead to her early death.

Dr. Robert Mendelsohn author of How to Raise a Healthy Child In Spite of Your Doctor, states that "slow viruses found in all live vaccines, and particularly in the measles vaccine, hide in human tissues for years. They may emerge later in the form of encephalitis, multiple sclerosis, and as potential seeds for the development and growth of cancer."  This is another example of how the MMR vaccine can negatively affect the child who is receiving it.  Over time the virus can live on the human organs and mutate into several different forms of incurable diseases that can affect them in their adult life.

There are many scientists and doctors who speak out against the use of inoculations as well.  Dr. Harris Coulter, in his book Vaccination, Social Violence and Criminality: The Medical Assault on the American Brain is quoted as saying "Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) or crib death may in fact be vaccine deaths. When, in 1975, the Japanese government raised the minimum vaccination age from two months (as it is in America) to two years, crib death and infantile seizures virtually disappeared."  This simple quote is enough to suggest that even delaying the vaccines for a few years would greatly impact the welfare of the child in terms of the side effects that they may face.

My knowledge of science was able to help me form my views on inoculations because of the knowledge about chemicals and the effects on the human body.  It is also important to know that these diseases are a virus and not bacteria.  A virus by scientific definition is a toxin, and the treatment for viruses is the use of antiviral medication, vaccines, which contain parts of the original virus.  This is to activate our memory cells into remembering the virus and when it is entering our body, it will activate our immune response quicker.  However, knowing the definition of virus and that they mutate according to their host cells, which they need to replicate, it makes one lead to the conclusion that the vaccine is giving that small amount of virus time to mutate into another form of disease that will not activate our memory cells at all.
